In conjunction with the album reveal, the rapper dropped his debut single “Lithonia,” titled after a town situated to the east of Atlanta, where his television series takes place. “Lithonia” represents a departure for Gambino, exploring rock music with prominent guitars and reverberating vocals.

News of the album release follows closely on the heels of the trailer premiere for his upcoming film “Bando Stone & The New World,” which debuted alongside his appearance at the BET Awards, followed by the announcement of his new album. The American actor, comedian, rapper, singer, writer, director, and producer is set to release his sixth and final album on July 16.

In the film, Glover stars as the titular character who wanders through a desolate world until he meets a mother and her son. They appear to battle for survival in a dystopian society populated by giant squids and threatening emu-like birds.

Anticipating the End: A Look at Gambino’s Last Musical Chapter

The album’s lead single, “Lithonia,” was released on July 2, 2024, through RCA Records.

In April, he initially disclosed his plans for his last two albums during a discussion about his Gilga project. He announced that he would release two new Childish Gambino albums. The first album, a revised edition of his unexpected release “3.15.20,” which was quietly released in March 2020, was unveiled in May under its original title, “Atavista.”

“ATAVISTA is now available for streaming. This album completes ‘3.15.20,’ which I released four years ago. A special vinyl edition with visuals for each song is coming soon. The brand-new Childish Gambino album will be released this summer. Also… ‘Little Foot, Big Foot’ video,” he posted on Instagram.

From ‘Lithonia’ to Global Tour: Gambino’s Latest Journey

The tour begins on August 11 in Oklahoma City, OK, with scheduled stops in Brooklyn, Los Angeles, and Chicago, before continuing overseas to Europe and Australia.
