Overview of Dragon-elephant Tango

An overview of Xu Feihong , the 17th Chinese ambassador to India thought was seen in this article.Xu Feihong arrived New Delhi on 10 may and presented letter of credence to the honorable President of India Draupadi Murmu. He was highly impressed by the broad public support for India-China relationship and give five guidelines of ‘mutuals’ and termed it as ‘Dragon-Elephant Tango’ which simply refers to the complex,intricate and multifaceted relationship between India and China.This metaphor gives us the idea of balance of cooperation and competition between both the countries.Understanding all the situation would solve up to 90% problems between both the Asian countries.

The five guidelines are as follows:

1.Mutual Respect

This is the first and foremost guideline for the development of India-China relation.Both the countries need to respect each other sovereignty,culture and tradition.They need to understand each other perspective and also respect it whole-heartedly.This will help to resolve border dispute peacefully through dialogue.

2.Mutual understanding

Exchange of culture and people to people interaction also plays an important role in building up mutual understanding between both the countries. It can foster relationship at grassroot level and help to bridge cultural gaps and build longterm goodwill. This field needs to be work upon in various agendas so as to build harmonious environment.

3.Mutual Trust

This is the beginning of all the relationship. Building trust acknowledge greater chances of having friendly relation in a faster way. Both the country should try to avoid unnecessary suspicion in order to grow together. A clear vision must be set up and need to stick it until achieved.Xu Feihong addressed that Chinese people are willing to be good friends and partners of Indian people forever; no one can stop from achieving this even the Himalayas.

4.Mutual Accommodation

This includes another crucial aspect of the Dragon-Elephant Tango. India and China are neighbours and no one can deny it.It is natural to have differences among us but it’s our responsibility to overcome this through dialogue and reach mutually acceptable solution.It is not easy to achieve this in a single incident but can definitely happen by regular modification.

5.Mutual Accomplishment

Both India and China are at are at critical stage of national development and revitalisation.India aima at ‘Viksit Bharat 2047’ and China wishes good luck and also glad to work with India and help each other to succeed. President of China Xi JinPing stated that if India and China speak with one voice the whole world will listen and through this way can make our relation better.
