On Friday , the Union Cabinet headed by Our Honorable Prime Minister Mr. Narendra Modi approved a Clean Plant Program, an Integrated Horticulture development Project ultimately aimed to eliminate diseases caused by viruses in fruits and vegetable crops.
The Scheme will be launched through nine advanced and Modern centers that will facilitate in availing the scheme by farmers
Clean Planting Program
A scheme approved by the Union Cabinet On Friday to provide Virus free Planting Materials to all Farmers irrespective of their land holding size or Socio-economic status .Union Information and Broadcasting Minister Ashwini vaishnaw said about the Program to reporters , that The scheme will be launched with an Investment of Rs.1765.67 Crore which will address different agro-Climatic zones by innovating region Specific Varieties of Virus free Plants.

The Clean Planting program will be implemented by the National Horticulture Board in collaboration with the Indian Council for agricultural research. This Program will ensure that all farmers get access to high quality disease free Planting material developed by Nurseries which will be certified for growing Superior quality seeds and saplings.
Objective of Clean Plant Program(CPP)
The main source of income for many farmers is from Horticulture . He also added that This year’s Budget emphasized Agriculture a little more which served root cause for this program. The nine centers will cater planting materials like avocado , litchi , pomegranate ,Mango , guava , walnuts and other major fruits according to the location .
Benefits of Clean Planting Scheme
High Quality Food Crops through this Clean Planting Program will surely enhance the Export Potential of India . The minister also highlighted that the shipment value of Horticulture yields had gone up to 50000 crore in the past 10 years .This project hence will help the farmers in increasing the productivity as well as quality of crops.

The cabinet also explained about the Extension of The PM Jeevan Program that promotes the extraction of ethanol from Biomass for another 5 years at a cost of Rs.1900 crores with an aim of accelerating Ethanol production in the Country and blending of petrol. Ten years ago the ethanol blending was only 1.5% , in July 2024 it had risen to 16%. The blending of ethanol with petrol is a high prioritized project that helps to lessen the import of Oil that India exports.
