This false letter gave the impression that senior Congress leader Digvijaya Singh had resigned from the party after the release of its first list of candidates for the upcoming assembly polls. Singh, a former Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh, promptly addressed the situation on social media, refuting the claims and accusing the BJP of spreading false information.
Fake Resignation Letter Circulates
The fake resignation letter, which was widely shared on social media platforms, alleged that Singh’s recommended candidates for party tickets were not considered, causing him to resign. The letter further stated that Singh’s self-respect had been hurt as dedicated party workers were seemingly ignored.
Singh’s Response
Responding to the viral social media post featuring the fake resignation letter, Digvijaya Singh took to social media platform X to clarify his stance. He emphatically stated his commitment to the Congress party, affirming that he joined the party in 1971 due to his alignment with its ideology rather than any quest for a position. He stressed that he would remain a part of the Congress “till his last breath.” Furthermore, Singh reported the matter to the police, emphasizing his dedication to the party.
“The BJP is good at speaking lies. I took membership of Congress in 1971 after being influenced by the party’s ideology and not for any post. I will be with the Congress till my last breath. I am getting a complaint registered with the police,” Singh wrote on X (formerly Twitter)

Later, Singh shared on X a copy of the complaint letter submitted by his party to the cyber cell of Bhopal police. “?@DGP_MP Sir, will you file an FIR against these liars,” he wrote.
Congress Releases First List of Candidates
Notably, this incident occurred shortly after the Madhya Pradesh Congress released its first list of candidates for the upcoming assembly elections. The list comprises 144 candidates, including Jaivardhan Singh, Digvijaya Singh’s son and a sitting legislator.
