In the world, The Constitution of India is the longest-written article and the nation’s core, comprising 448 articles divided into 25 sections,12 schedules, and five appendices. The Indian Constitution is the highest authority and explains the country’s political code, the functions and organisation of various government entities, and people’s fundamental rights and obligations. During the Loksabha election 2024, The constitution of India was a matter of discussion.

Following this, The Constitution of India in black-red cover published by Lucknow-based Eastern Book Company (EBC) has witnessed sales of 5000 copies within the first 3 months of this year and seems to surge compared to selling around 5000 copies entire in the year 2023.

After the Loksabha election result came out on June 4, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday bowed the Indian constitution book to his forehead in a meeting in Parliament with his allies and posted on the microblogging app X (formerly Twitter),  “Each moment of my life is devoted to maintaining the respectable values revered within the constitution of India given to us by Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar’. Highlighting the importance of the Constitution, Modi said, ‘Someone like me, born in poverty and a backward family, I can serve the nation only because of the Constitution. Our Constitution gives millions of people hope, strength and dignity”.

Congress leaders slam Modi’s bow to constitution book to his forehead

In response to Modi’s touch to the constitution book to his forehead, Congress leader and Rajya Sabha MP Jairam Ramesh slammed Modi remarking that, ‘Modi bowed to the same Constitution that, he has continuously refused for 10 years and for which the RSS-BJP had sought 400 seats to implement their decades-long conspiracy to dismantle it”.

 Meanwhile, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi also criticised Modi over the touch to the constitution. Addressing a public gathering in Raebareli, where he won more than 3 lakh margin votes, Congress MP Rahul Gandhi said, “The BJP has changed the politics of the entire country. The public has sent a message to Prime Minister Narendra Modi that if he touches the Constitution, then see what people will do to him.” even after the general election rahl Gandhi advocate for public support to safeguard nation’s constitution during his public speeches.
