As the contest for a stronger democracy persists, the country is debating whether the Modi Government has been a decisive and inclusive leader or someone who has increased polarization and disrupted social harmony. On one hand we have critics lamenting erosion of social harmony, polarization of the population, inflation and corruption. On the other hand we have supporters glorifying international image under Modi’s democratic regime. Let’s analyse Modi Government since 2014, measure its credits and crticism.

CRITICAL ANALYSIS OF MODI GOVERNMENT SINCE 2014
The story of India’s democracy has always been a cognitive and experimental one. In the past ten years polarization among Hindus and Muslims have increased, job opportunities have been limited but successful implementation of Goods and Services Tax (GST), banning triple talaq, PMJDY(Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan Yojana have been a relative success. https://thewire.in/government/analysing-the-modi-years-credit-and-criticism
RELIGIOUS AND CULTURAL DIVERSITY– effects since 2014
Modi’s approach to religious diversity is in contrast with the organic Indian Tradition. While BJP’s parent organization RSS has proclaimed Swami Vivekananda as their idol, his teachings clearly stated that one must respect the boundaries of all the other faith and heterogeneity of religions must prevail, there have been many instances where the ruling party seemed to have a “particular concern”. In his recent speech Modi addressed Muslims as “infiltrators” and stated that if congress comes to power they’ll snatch away the mangalsutras of Hindu women, it clearly portrays the infusion of hate and enforcement of a homogenised Hindu narrative. Religious sentiments have been intertwined with fake nationalistic narrative to create issues such as love jihaad, ghar waapsi, cow protection, beef ban. Hindu Muslim communal hatred has become very common and the population seems more divided than ever.

Employment and International competitiveness
India has retained it’s position among the fastest growing economies in the world under his regime. Tho the Modi regime realised the importance of economic growth it failed to add towards the employment generation of the country. This thing becomes transparent withstanding the implementation of Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee scheme, ridiculing the right to work as a waste of government expenditure the government restored its faith on the corporate sector for generating employment opportunities. But the results came out to be the complete opposite as wages were delayed. To add salt in the wound demonitization took place which decimated jobs of millions in the informal economy. Moreover, exports of the economy has shown a declining rate since 2014.
