Each of the ten participating teams in the World Cup is gearing up for the warm-up matches to test and prepare themselves for the upcoming ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup scheduled in India. Rain continues to play spoilsport
Of the seven warm-up matches played yet, five were interrupted by rain. The matches between South Africa and Afghanistan and India and England were washed out without a ball being bowled. In Australia vs. Netherlands and Bangladesh vs. England, the overs had to be reduced as a result of persistent rain. The rain also caused the New Zealand vs. South Africa match to be called off. All the warm-up matches are held in Guwahati, Thiruvananthapuram, and Hyderabad.
India’s first warm-up match against the 2019 Cricket World Champions England was washed out without a ball being bowled. It seems like today’s match may also be interrupted by rain. According to Weather.com, there’s more than an 80% predicted chance of rain at 2:00 PM. Will today’s match be washed out too? Needs to be seen.
The weather at the Greenfield International Stadium, Thiruvananthapuram, at 11:35 PM was 26°C with overcast clouds. The ground is fully covered due to the rainy weather. The playing conditions change due to persistent rain; if the full 50-over match is not possible, overs will be reduced as needed.
