India’s men’s cricket team registered their fourth straight victory in the Cricket World Cup by winning with seven wickets against Bangladesh.

India remained unbeaten in their Cricket World Cup 2023 (CWC23) campaign by winning four straight matches in the group stage. In Pune, India faced Bangladesh in their fourth match of the Men’s Cricket World Cup 2023. The Maharashtra Cricket Association, Pune, hosted the CWC23 match after a long gap of 27 years.

It was Bangladesh’s fourth match in the CWC23, and the Indian batsmen were too much for them. The Cricket World Cup started on October 5 and Bangladesh has now played four matches, managing to win just one while losing three.

Here’s what happened in the match with Bangladesh

Bangladesh won the toss and chose to bat first. Bangladesh got a flying start from the openers, who built a partnership of 93 runs. Both openers scored a fifty; T. Hasan made 51 off 43 while L. Das made 66 off 82 balls. With a partnership of 93, they were gaining momentum, but the team kept losing wickets. Besides openers, M. Rahim scored 38, and Mahamudullah made 46. Except for these four, no one was able to make an impact, and the team crumbled to 256 for 8 in 50 overs.

Indian bowlers were awesome, and their fielding made sure that Bangladesh would not go beyond 260. Star bowler Bumrah bowled 10 overs, giving away 41 runs and picking 2 wickets. Siraj was quite expensive, as he gave up 60 runs in 10 overs while taking two wickets. Jadeja was the best bowler with two wickets while conceding just 38 runs in 10 overs. K. Yadav conceded 47 in 10 overs while taking one wicket. S. Thakur gave 59 in 10 overs while taking one wicket.

Chasing 257, India started off with a flying start with a partnership of 88 runs in just 12 overs. In form, Rohit Sharma fell short of two runs from making a fifty. Rohit departed at 48 from 40 balls with seven fours and two sixes. Later, Gill followed the captain after scoring 53 runs in 55 balls with five fours and six sixes. Virat Kohli was sensational with a century, scoring 103 off 97 balls with six fours and four sixes.

Bangladesh bowlers failed to stop India as the hosts piled up an 88-run partnership for the first wicket. By the end of 20 overs, India was in the driving seat of the match with 135 runs. Indian batters started hitting the bowlers from the first over, making it difficult for the bowlers to build pressure on the batsmen. Except for Rahman and Mahmudullah, who bowled one over, everyone gave away more than 45 runs. Mahmud was the most expensive bowler, with 65 runs in 10 overs.

With the century against Bangladesh, Virat Kohli now has 48 centuries in the One Day International (ODI) format. Kohli made 103 runs off 97 balls. When Kohli was on the score of 80, India needed exactly 20 runs to win, and Kohli needed the same runs to score the century. From those 20 runs, Kohli made 23 by taking doubles and singles to keep the strike.

When India was less than four runs away from victory, Kohli was on 97. N. Ahmed bowled a ball that could have been a wide ball, but umpire Richard Kettleborough didn’t signal a wide ball. This decision made some think that the umpire did this so that Kohli could score a hundred. On the next ball, which was a full toss, Kohli hit a winning six that took him to 103 and sealed another comfortable win for India.

Hardik Pandya sustains an injury

All-rounder Hardik Pandya injured himself in the ninth over of Bangladesh’s innings. It was Pandya’s first over, the all-rounder sustained the injury in his third ball, and he appears to have twisted his ankle in an effort to stop a shot with his foot during his follow-through. Pandya was soon taken off the field while limping on his foot. Pandya’s injury is a major blow for India. It has been confirmed that Pandya is set to miss the upcoming match against the mighty New Zealand.
