Wade Wilson, known as the ‘Deadpool Killer’, was convicted back in June for the deaths of Kristine Melton, 35 and Diane Ruiz, 43. The 30-year-old tattooed killer of Fort Myers, appeared apathetic as Lee Circuit Judge Nicholas Thompson sentenced him to death.

The Judge stated that, “The evidence shows the murders were heinous, atrocious, and cruel. And that the second murder was cold, calculated and premeditated.”

On an unfortunate night in 2019, Wilson strangled Kristine Melton in her home itself after a drug-fueled sexual encounter with her. Later, he stole her car and called his girlfriend using the victim’s mobile phone. He tried to assault her as well but she escaped as she refused to get inside the stolen car.

He then came across Diane Ruiz, who was asking for directions at Cape Coral. He accepted to offer her a lift and invited her inside the car and later, he strangled her and threw her out of the car. He then later returned and ran the car over her “until she looked like spaghetti”, according to the testimony from the trial.

Assistant State Attorney Andreas Gardiner told the court that, “the case was about killing for the sake of killing.” He further added, “Strangulation is the epitome of life slipping through someone’s hands.”

Wilson was imprisoned for 5 years and during that period of time, he also received several love letters and X-rated pictures. This bizarre trend hasn’t been uncommon for years. Serial killers like Jeffrey Dahmer, Ted Bundy, Richard Ramirez, etc have also received such ridiculous attention while in prison.

Wilson’s attorney claimed that he suffered from brain damage due to drug addiction and also had severe abandonment issues as his biological parents gave him up for adoption. His adoptive parents urged the court to not give him the death penalty, claiming that, “the human in him is still there”.
