Delhi Government To Set New Standards for Coaching Centers, AAP’s Atishi Reveals

On Wednesday, Delhi Education Minister Atishi said that a new rule governing coaching institutes in the nation’s capital will be introduced by the AAP-led government.

She asked the kids who were demonstrating in old Rajinder Nagar for the names of ten delegates who would be on a panel that would write legislation governing coaching centres in the city.

Atishi met with the demonstrators and gave them assurances that the government supported their concerns, despite the cries of “go back” and “we want justice” being directed at her.

According to the students who are demonstrating, a 15-person coordination committee has been established to determine the protest’s future direction.

Four days have passed since three UPSC candidates perished in the national capital’s coaching center’s basement after it flooded from rain.

Delhi Mayor Shelly Oberoi stated at this conference that the government will take the students’ concerns seriously, meet with them, and introduce the Coaching Institute Regulation Act.

The bill will contain measures pertaining to fee control, instructor qualifications, infrastructure, and prohibiting deceptive advertising. We’ll also ask the public for their opinions, Atishi added.

During his speech, the Delhi AAP leader also said that a committee made up of government representatives and students from various coaching centres will be formed by the government to draft legislation.

We will not wait for regulations to be issued by the national government. We have made the decision to impose regulations on coaching centres, regardless of their type. Regulatory acts have been developed for coaching institutions such as UPSC, JEE, and NEET, the speaker stated.

The bill would include measures for regulating fees, ensuring that teachers are qualified, building infrastructure, and prohibiting deceptive advertising. She stated that public input will also be gathered.

Atishi added that coaching institutes that hold lessons and libraries in basements have been targeted by legal action. And if any cops are proven to have been involved in the event, severe measures will be implemented. She went on, “The Old Rajinder Nagar tragedy was caused by illegal building use.”

The upcoming coaching institution regulatory legislation will include the infrastructure necessary for the coaching institute as well as specific instructor credentials, similar to how schools and nursing homes are required to have certain infrastructure. Since these coaching centres demand outrageous costs, the fees of educational institutions will be restricted. She said that these coaching institutes will not be allowed to run deceptive ads.

She said that within the next six days, the report of the magistrate’s investigation into the Old Rajinder Nagar event will be turned in.

The investigation will also determine whether officials disregarded an IAS candidate’s report to the MCD on the unlawful usage of Rau’s IAS Study Circle’s basement, which is where the three students perished, according to Atishi.

I’m requesting input from everyone in Delhi, but especially from the students. Regulations under this legislation will be based on what students enrolled in coaching institutes must meet. According to our belief, the coaching industry’s illegality and irregularities can only be permanently resolved by enacting a regulation of this kind, Atishi continued.

Three IAS candidates, Nevin Dalwin from Kerala, Tanya Soni from Telangana, and Shreya Yadav from Uttar Pradesh, perished when rain on Saturday night caused the basement of a building holding Rau’s IAS Study Circle coaching facility to leak.
