The mid-September of this year more than 4965 dengue cases were reported in Delhi said by The National Center for Vector Borne Diseases Control (NCVBDC) till 21 October 2023. This is the highest number of cases in the last 5 years.

There is lack of information about vector borne diseases by MCD (Municipal Corporation of Delhi). The last report on Dengue cases by MCD was in the first week of August.
This year in the national capital there were nearly 5000 cases of dengue that have been recorded,MCD sources said on Thursday on news agency PTI.
There was one death recorded so far in Delhi this year.With data provided by the MCD, 19 of 20 cases of dengue sample had the presence of type 2 strain. This is on the severe strain of dengue virus.
Union Health Ministry Data
According to the Union Health Ministry, Delhi has reported the highest number of dengue cases in the nation this year. The ministry also said that there is a 23% increase in dengue cases so far this year compared to the same time last year.
Data By the MCD on Dengue cases
MCD said that the highest cases of dengue this year has been reported from South Delhi with 57 cases, followed by West areas with 52 cases and North Delhi with 47 cases,with further information by MCD the majority of case were came from crowded areas.
Statement by the Mayor Shelly Oberoi
On Thursday Delhi’s Mayor Shelly Oberoi and Aaley Muhammad Iqbal, had held a meeting on this dengue with Public Health Department officials at the Civic Centre in MCD. They also said that they will take all necessary steps to control the spread of dengue, with intense fogging activity, and cleaning up breeding grounds for mosquitoes.
Malaria is completely under control in Delhi with 352 cases.Also Mayor’s office stated that there is significant reduction of Chikungunya with 29 cases in Delhi as reported by the PTI. Further, 129 chikungunya cases were till October 21 in 2018, 132 in 2019,74 in 2020,73 in 2021 and 38 in 2022.
Mayor Shelly Oberoi, in her office statement also said that of 250 Delhi wards, more than 1000 devices are used for fogging indoor and outdoor. On a daily basis MCD checked the 1.5 lakh houses where there was a possibility of mosquitoes larvae growing locations.
Mayor Oberoi added that MCD vow to reduce dengue cases in 15 days,they also appealed to the public to fully cooperate with the government and take all the precautions which are needed to prevent mosquito breeding.
