The residers of the public capital are scuffling with an violent heatwave as temperatures have soared, surpassing the 50- degree Celsius mark. To add to their straits, Delhiites are now brazened with an severe water deficit.

Areas affected by water extremity

The affected points gauge from the NDMC area to Patel Nagar, and from North to SouthDelhi.Various corridor including Chanakyapuri’s Sanjay Camp area and East Delhi’s Geeta Colony are among the worst- hitareas. The water extremity has also impacted people abiding in Mehrauli and Chattarpur, as the scorching heat surge continues to grip the megacity.

Delhi govt action plan

The Delhi government has approached the Supreme Court, seeking an increased allocation of water from bordering countries, including Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, and Himachal Pradesh. The request comes as the public capital grapples with an acute water extremity. AAP govt has introduced a new approach to address the raising water extremity in the megacity.

MLA Atishi, made an advertisement on Thursday regarding the timber of a central water tanker control room and the deployment of quick response brigades across all 11 Delhi Jal Board zones to attack water- related extremities effectively. In order to help the abuse of water, the Delhi Pollution Control Committee will assign brigades to cover auto washing installations, while the Municipal Corporation of Delhi will dispatch its own brigades to oversee construction spots. Preliminarily, the Delhi Jal Board had formerly stationed enforcement brigades to insure that water wasn’t wasted on conditioning similar as washing buses .

The Delhi govt attributes the current water extremity primarily to Haryana’s failure to release raw water from the Yamuna swash to Delhi, as the capital heavily relies on Yamuna water to meet its requirements. The raw water is directed to Wazirabad and also distributed to three water treatment shops located in Wazirabad, Chandrawal, and Okhla.”

Wherever there’s a deficit of water force, we’re transferring water tankers to similar areas,” claimed Atishi.” We’re now setting up a central water tanker war room. Any Delhi occupant who wants a water tanker should telephone 1916. Water tankers will be transferred to places from where citizens report deficit of water force.”

The political blame game

Delhi BJP chairman Virendra Sachdeva charged the AAP government with corruption on Thursday and said that the megacity was passing a water deficit. He complained that water was being wasted and stolen, and the Delhi government has not only failed in its duties to stop this destruction and theft. “ Unfortunately, they’ve levied a penalty of Rs 2000, ” he added.

In response to these allegations made by water minister Atishi that the Haryana government wasn’t supplying Delhi with water, Sachdeva said that she was lying. “ Only a many days back, the officers from the Delhi government’s flood tide department and Jal Board visited Hathini Kund Barrage, there were Haryana government officers too, ” he added. “ When the officers from the flood tide department and Jal Board came to check the set up of the system through which water is being measured, they left the place satisfied because Haryana government is furnishing further water to Delhi than it had committed, ” he further said.

Sachdeva further says that an agreement made between Haryana and Delhi is to supply 719 cusecs of water to Delhi but Haryana inventories 1,049 cusecs of water daily. “ But also bone wonders why water cuts be in Delhi when the water force is further than what was promised, ” he asked. While pertaining to the water extremity in the capital, Kejriwal said, “ But the demand for water force has increased due to heat. ” There has been a reduction in the quantum of water that Delhi has been entering from the other countries. It means it’s greatly demanded while the force is veritably low.
