The re-release of Imtiaz Ali’s Laila Majnu has made it extremely popular, but many people are unaware that the famous movie was momentarily shelved because of a casting issue involving Triptii Dimri.

Over time, Avinash Tiwary and Triptii Dimri’s 2018 film Laila Majnu became a cult favorite, and their onscreen chemistry continues to be one of the most recognizable. But did you know that the producers’ inability to locate the perfect female protagonist caused them to temporarily shelve this Imtiaz Ali-backed movie?

Astha Arora, who was collaborating with Mukesh Chhabra in his casting agency at the time the movie’s cast was unknown, posted a video to her Instagram earlier this month detailing their search for the ideal Laila. “It was quite difficult for me to find a pretty, gorgeous girl who could act. It is frequently seen as a very challenging brief in casting, according to Arora.

She disclosed that the team searched for Laila by examining other females, as well as television stars and well-known celebrities, Femina Miss India contestants, and other college campuses nationwide. Astha continued, explaining that the search for the perfect woman had been put on hold for a year prior to Laila Majnu’s temporary hiatus in 2016.

Triptii was Saloni’s buddy, the actor I had contacted. We will begin testing the logon shortly, and then we’ll see how it goes.” And I thought that was it. Arora said, “I felt when I looked at Triptii that she was the one for the first time in many months.”

As soon as Triptii Dimri appeared for the audition, she was positively received by the producer and director, and she was chosen. It is important to mention that the star of the television series Animal shared with Astha the story of how she had earlier visited the Delhi casting office to meet those casting for a film but somehow it got canceled and she was left with nothing. “But one thing got clear that day, and that is Agar aapki kismat mein kuch likha hai toh kuch bhi ho jaye woh aap tak ya aap uss tak pahuch hee jaate ho,” Astha added.

Laila Majnu, which was co-produced by Ekta Kapoor, Shobha Kapoor, and Preety Ali, was directed by Sajid Ali and presented by Imtiaz Ali. The movie, a modern rendition of the historical Layla and Majnun romance, failed to gain much traction during its first few days in theaters.
