As the festival of Diwali is near, the preparation of celebration and atmosphere of festivities can be seen everywhere. The atmosphere of festivities is all around, the markets can be seen decorated with lights and people all geared up to celebrate the festival of lights.
Deepotsav 2024, celebrated in Ayodhya in Uttar Pradesh is all ready to be celebrated this year. The event in which earthen lamps (diyas) are lit is to be celebrated on October 30.
Ayodhya is all set to celebrate the Deepotsav this year with dazzling lights from diyas and lights.
The eighth edition of the festival will be celebrated with lighting up of 25 lakhs diyas along the banks of the river.
The city is decorated with colourful lights. Ahead of the Deepotsav event there was a laser show event and a light and sound show and other cultural programmes.
The government is aiming to make Guinness world records by lighting up around 25 lakhs diya, a 1,100 person Saryu Aarti is to be done as part of the grand celebrations of the festival. Large scale lighting of earthen lamps event on about 55 ghats which will be done by 30,000 volunteers.
The Deepotsav held this year is going to be an important event as it will be the first celebration after the Ram Temple consecration, which was held in January of 2024. Various artists from different states take part in the event and performances of artists from six countries.
In the year 2023 a record of lighting more than 22 lakhs diya was made.
About Deepotsav
The Deepotsav in Ayodhya is an annual event and is being celebrated every year from 2017.
The Deepotsav celebrates the rich tradition, cultural heritage and spirituality which attract people to see the various cultural and folk performances.
The diyas when are lit up on the banks of the river produces a spectacular sight to behold.
The event has grown into a grand event since the year 2017.
Historic Diwali This year
Prime Minister Narendra Modi while addressing the launch of various health related projects remarked that “this Diwali is historic.”
The Prime Minister said that thousands of lamps will be lit in the temple of Ram Lalla at his birth place in Ayodhya.
Prime Minister Modi while addressing during the event said, “This will be a Diwali when our Ram has returned home once again.” He also remarked that this time the wait is getting over not after 14 years but after 500 years.”
