Rajkumar Hirani’s cinema has created a space in movie lovers heart because of his storyline and the way he portrays his character. Instead of using VFX scenes or heavy dialogues, he reflects societal issues through his films. His made his debut with a cult movie “Munna Bhai MBBS”. After Sanju, five years later he is back with SRK but this time not with a action pack movie but a com-drama movie with an amazing story.
On the other hand Dunki is SRK’S third movie of this year after Pathaan and Jawan but unfortunately these doesn’t achieve the blockbuster success rate, exceptionally this is not a action pack movie or some romantic love story where a boy meet a girl and fulfill his beloved dream, but this has much more than that.

Dunki movie Review
The word Dunki refers to those people who want to enter a foreign country on illegal grounds. Dunki is a heartwarming comedy drama film, about friendship, nostalgia for love and home, baptism and borders. This film reflects the sensitivity of illegal immigrants, and especially the use of “Dunkey Fight ” technique to enter the United Kingdom, United States or Canada. This film is based at the time of 1995 when trio friend-Manu Balli,Buggu from Laltu,Punjab, with Sukhi in a cameo, wants to go to London for better job and opportunities but they don’t have any visas or tickets. Despite their efforts including English coaching, they failed the visa test, in this period of time a soldier named Hardy entered their life and promised to help them to fulfill their dream. After 25 years they reunite and decide to reach their dream destination. Hirani’s Dunki has high emotion with humor aspects. On the way to reach London Manu and Hardy get attracted towards each other and the story goes. They decide to reach London by road but they are determined to reach their dream destination London. On the way to their dream, they faced lots of obstacles including Dunkey Fight, immigrants who take illegal and dangerous paths to land in a foreign country, often ending up sacrificing their lives. Hirani bleeds love stories with immigration and creates an amazing story. I love the way Hirani presents important facts in a very light and simple way about why poor Indian citizens or non English speaking people don’t get visas to travel to other countries. Showing how the characters cross different borders and perform their task risking their lives, has left me speechless and heart – wrenching. On the second half of this film we see how Manu feels homesick and wants to go back to her home with her friends Buggu and Balli, but British embassy doesn’t grant their visa, so with no option left, she call Hardy Singh aka Hardayal Singh Dhillon in Punjab, believing that he will surely help her. Though compared with the first half the second half feels quite flat and length according to me, though the way Manu aka Taapsee Pannu reflects Manu’s condition which is really heart touching.
Character Analysis
Hardy Singh (Shah Rukh Khan) is the main attraction of this story, in the first half you will see a charming clean shaved sweet boy who meets a girl in Punjab where he came to look for someone. But in the second half you will see a better version of him when he crosses every difficulty – crossing the desert in Iran and snowy mountain. His charm reminds me of the same. Even though Hardy is the lead character, Rajkumar Hirani made sure to create individual space for every character to establish their importances in this film. Classic dialogues and amazing writing skills are always a key factor in Rajkumar Hirani’s cinema, this movie is not an exception. With good humor and simplification this movie’s characters can grab the viewer’s attention towards it. Sukhi (Vicky Kaushal) is a wonderful character despite his short appearance, the character has successfully attracted fans’ eyes. Restrained yet angry and violent when he needs to be. On the other hand Manu Randhawa’s (Taapsee Pannu) sweet, neutral Punjab gesture with her defining body language and presents shows the authenticity of her character in as a Punjabi woman, in emotional scene Taapsee shows a grip of her character and her comedy scenes with Hardy is unbeatable. Similarly Balli ( Anil Grover) and Buggu Lakhanpal (Vikram Kochhar) also played amazing roles.
At the end of this film though I think this is not the best film of Rajkumar Hirani but it still can leave you with a tearful smile, with a fuzzy and warm feeling. It’s a family entertaining film and I think you should give it a try.
