Ed Sheeran, captivating audiences since his arrival in India, performed on March 12 for his “+ – = ÷ x Tour,” delighted fans with a performance, singing more than 30 songs at Mumbai’s Mahalaxmi Race Course Grounds as part of his Asia and Europe Tour.During the concert, Sheeran collaborated with popular Indian artists like Diljit Dosanjh and Armaan Malik, with videos and images of their performances, including songs like “Lover” and “2Step,” going viral on social media. The Grammy-winning artist expressed his joy at returning to the country, mentioning his previous visits to India in 2015 and 2017 when he performed at a concert. Recognizing the diverse audience at the concert, Sheeran acknowledged that people had traveled from various parts of the country, using different modes of transportation including trains, planes, and cars, some even bringing their children along. He expressed gratitude for the effort and time people had put in to attend the concert on a Saturday night, emphasizing that he did not take their presence for granted. Dosanjh posted an Instagram reel with the caption, “My brother singing in Punjabi for the first time,” featuring flag emojis representing India and the UK.The reels have together gained over 50 million views and close to 4 million likes within a 24-hour period.

The singer of “Shape Of You” shared a video of their performance, concluding with a warm hug between the two artists. He wrote a heartfelt caption saying , “Had the opportunity to bring out @diljitdosanjh tonight in Mumbai and sing in Punjabi for the first time. My experience in India has been amazing, and there’s more to come!”

At the end of the concert, Sheeran returned to the stage dressed in a kurta featuring the word ‘Mumbai’ in Hindi and performed popular songs like “Shape of You” and “Bad Habits.”Expressing his fondness for Mumbai, Sheeran said, “Mumbai, I adore the ‘Shape of You’… Tonight will always stay with me. Please ensure you reach home safely.” He bid farewell to the audience with a wave before leaving.The concert was attended by Bollywood stars such as Madhuri Dixit Nene, Priyamani, and filmmaker  Farah Khan.

In the days leading up to the concert, the British artist had met several Bollywood personalities, including Shah Rukh Khan.Since his arrival in India, Ed Sheeran visited a Mumbai school where he delighted children by performing his popular track “Shape of You.” Actor Ayushmann Khurrana gifted the British singer  handmade  pinni, a Punjabi dessert prepared by Khurana’s mother.Videos of Sheeran dancing with Armaan Malik to the hit song “Butta Bomma” from the 2020 film Ala Vaikunthapurramuloo starring Allu Arjun gained immense popularity on social media.
