In a recent development, the Maharashtra government introduced the ‘Ladka Bhau Yojna’ aimed at supporting young men who have completed their 12th standard. Chief Minister Eknath Shinde unveiled the scheme in Pandarpur ahead of the upcoming assembly elections.

According to the provisions of this scheme, individuals holding diplomas will be granted Rs 8,000 every month, while those with graduate degrees will qualify for Rs 10,000 per month.

Known as the Mukhyamantri Yuva Karya Prashikshan Yojana, the scheme not only addresses the industry’s manpower needs but also offers employment opportunities to those in need.

Earlier, the government launched the ‘Ladki Bahin’ scheme, providing Rs 1,500 per month to economically disadvantaged women aged 21 to 60. State Finance Minister Ajit Pawar announced this initiative, which has a budget allocation of Rs 46,000 crore.

These announcements followed the Mahayuti coalition’s setback in the Lok Sabha elections, where it secured only 17 out of 48 seats. Ajit Pawar also announced relief measures for farmers, including waivers on electricity bills for irrigation pumps and compensation of Rs 5,000 per hectare, up to two hectares, for soybean and cotton farmers facing price shortfalls.

During the elections, farmers expressed discontent over various issues, including delays in lifting the export ban on onions, which adversely affected their earnings. Additionally, the state budget pledged to provide free education to female students as part of efforts to enhance female literacy and empowerment.
