“The Bear” dominated the comedy categories at the Emmys this year, and it’s likely to repeat its success in the upcoming awards season.
The 76th Primetime Emmy Awards, held on 16 September at Peacock theatres in Los Angeles. It was a night of celebration for television’s finest. The ceremony, a glittering affair, showcased the best in television programming from the past year. Emmy Awards turned out for the second time in this year at red carpet.
The Outstanding Drama Series award went to FX’s amazing historical drama series Shogun which is set in Japan. Meanwhile, Hacks won outstanding comedy instead of the Bear. Shogun took home four honors in total, including Best Actress, Best Lead Actor, and Best Directing.
Throughout the evening, there were a number of touching and memorable moments. For example, when Hacks star Jean Smart won the Emmy for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Comedy Series, she gave a heartfelt speech about the importance of representation in television. And when Abbott Elementary won the Emmy for Outstanding Comedy Series, the show’s creators and cast members celebrated on stage, thanking the audience for their support.
Drama dominance: Shogun and The Bear

The show, which starred Hannah Einbinder and Jean mart, won accolades for its devastating examination of the entertainment industry, relatable characters, and biting humor. Abbott troubled public school in Philadelphia, was another noteworthy comedy winner. The program, which has received recognition for its touching depiction of the difficulties and successes of public education, won multiple accolades, include Best Comedy Series and Best Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series for the hilarious performance of the Janelle James.

The limited series and television movie categories showcased a diverse range of storytelling. The White Lotus season 2, a satirical dark comedy set in Sicily, dominated with multiple wins, including Best Limited Series and Best Lead Actor in a Limited Series for Michael Stuhlbarg.
Supporting Roles and Variety Programming
The supporting roles were also hotly contested. Billy Crudup from The Morning Show won Best Supporting Actor in a Drama Series, while Elizabeth Debicki from The Crown took home the award for Best Supporting Actress in a Drama Series. In a variety programming categories, Saturday Night Live continued its reign as a comedy powerhouse, winning Best Variety Sketch Series. Last Week Tonight with John Oliver and The Late Show with Stephen Colbert also took home awards in their respective categories.
