Euro Cup 2024 reaches its climax, with 36 matches taking place in 12 days. Following the group stage, the tournament has now been narrowed down to 16 teams from an initial 24. The top two teams from each group have progressed to the Round of 16, along with the four best 3rd-placed teams. Croatia, considered a major team, was eliminated in the group stage.
Despite the efforts of Luka Modric and his team, they were unable to secure a victory and only managed to accumulate two points, failing to qualify as one of the best third-placed teams. The Round of 16 matches are set to take place over four days, with two matches scheduled each day starting from June 29.
The most significant headline from the last day of group-stage matches was Georgia’s surprising 2-0 victory over Portugal. This result not only secured their spot in the round of 16 but also set up a showdown with Spain in the knockout stage. This is the first time in history, that Georgia get a ticket to the round of 16 in the Euro Cup.
The following teams have advanced to the Round of 16 by finishing as the top two in their respective groups: Germany, Switzerland, Spain, Italy, England, Denmark, Austria, France, Romania, Belgium, Portugal, and Turkey. Additionally, the teams that have qualified for the Round of 16 as the best third-placed teams are Slovenia, Netherlands, Slovakia, and Georgia. Unfortunately, the following teams have been eliminated: Hungary, Scotland, Croatia, Albania, Serbia, Poland, Ukraine, and Czech Republic.
