UEFA for the European men’s national teams of its member associations organise Euro Cup 2024 kick-starts on June 14 and will end on July 14. This time Germany will host the 17th edition of the UEFA European Championship comprising 24 teams. The 1988 edition Euro Cup was held in West Germany, but this will be the first time Germany will host the UEFA European Championship since reunification.
Germany had a plethora of stadiums to choose from that met UEFA’s minimum capacity requirement of 30,000 seats for European Championship matches. Out of the ten venues chosen for Euro 2024, nine had already been utilized during the 2006 FIFA World Cup. These cities include Berlin, Dortmund, Munich, Cologne, Stuttgart, Hamburg, Leipzig, Frankfurt, and Gelsenkirchen. The 2024 Euro Cup is the return of a regular four-year cycle after the 2020 edition was delayed to 2021 due to the COVID-19 pandemic across the world. Italy are the title shield, having won the final by beating England in the penalty shootout.
