New Delhi, India – A sensational episode has emerged in Delhi’s posh Greater Kailash area, involving two doctors, a woman posing as a surgeon, a laboratory technician, and several dead patients. Four people have been arrested in connection with the deaths of two patients who were undergoing surgery at a clinic in a south Delhi neighborhood.
Dr. Neeraj Agarwal and his wife Pooja Agarwal, along with Dr. Jaspreet Singh were arrested, along with former laboratory technician Mahender Singh, according to the Delhi Police.
According to the police, in 2022, a patient named Asghar Ali was admitted to the clinic for gallbladder treatment. Mr Ali was primarily told that the surgery will be performed by a qualified surgeon Dr Jaspreet. However, Dr. Jaspreet was replaced by Mahendra and Pooja just before the operation. The patient Mr Ali reportedly experienced severe pain after completing the operating room and was immediately transported to Safdarjung Hospital, where he was evident dead upon arrival.
The patients’ families stated that Dr. Agarwal, from Agarwal Medical Centre, and three other surgeons performed surgeries on multiple patients’ vital organs without following the medical protocols. According to the complainants, Dr. Agarwal is a physician who performs surgeries despite the fact that he has forged documents.

An investigation into the case revealed that at least nine complaints had been filed since 2016 against Dr. Agarwal, Pooja, and the Agarwal Medical Centre. According to the police, all seven patients died as a result of medical malpractice, according to news agency PTI.
Chandan Chowdhary Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) said “On November 1, a medical board consisting of four doctors was summoned to examine the medical center, and a lot of defects and shortages were observed.” He also added that “the investigation revealed Agarwal’s habitual practise of falsifying documents related to patients’ treatment and surgery.
Police seized nearly 400 prescription slips with only doctors’ signatures on the top, two registers containing patient details for medical termination of pregnancy (MTP) procedures performed at the clinic. Various banned medications and injections were also used in this hospital facility.
Expired surgical blades, original prescription slips from numerous patients, cheque books from 47 different banks, 54 ATM cards from various banks, passbooks from multiple post offices, and six POS terminal credit card machines were also recovered from Agarwal’s residence and clinic.
Mahendra was arrested, along with the clinic’s owner and two other staff members who claimed to have MBBS degrees. Their certificates are being verified, said the police officer, also adding that the four people were arrested after it was discovered that they were involved in the surgery of a patient who had been admitted due to a minor medical issue. The patient’s attendants claimed that the accused performed the surgery.
The racketing was exposed after a gallbladder stone removal surgery. When the patient died his wife filed a case against them and then the police raided the hospital and found unauthorized billings and medications.
According to sources, police had received more than a dozen complaints from various people about patients being mistreated by doctors at the clinic. An investigation has been launched by the police, who discovered that Dr. Jaspreet Singh was not present on the day of the surgery. Since the beginning, seven complaints have been filed with the Delhi Medical Council against Agrawal Medical Centre, Dr. Neeraj Agrawal, and his wife Puja Agrawal.
