Farah Khan Pens an Emotional Note Grieving her Late Mother

Two weeks after celebrating her 79th birthday, Farah Khan’s mother, Menaka Irani, passed away on 26th July 2024. Days after her passing, Farah Khan takes to Instagram to pen down an emotional post grieving her mother’s loss.

Menaka Irani was no stranger to the Bollywood industry. Not only was she the mother of famed director and choreographer Farah Khan and director Sajid Khan, she was also the sister of child actors Honey Irani and Daisy Irani. Menaka Irani also acted in the 1963 film Bachpan. 

Farah Khan starts her note by saying, “My mom was a very unique person.. never wanted the limelight or any fuss around her.. despite the hard knocks she faced in her early life she was a rare one who had no bitterness or envy towards anyone.” She even states that her mother was “far wittier n funny” than both her and her brother combined which is quite the compliment considering Farah Khan is well loved by many people working in the film industry.

Gratitude Towards the Industry

“I don’t know if she can see the outpouring of genuine love n condolences that have come for her .. not only frm our friends n of course family but so many of her colleagues n people who worked in our house,” Farah Khan continued in her note. She conveyed her gratitude to everyone who had visited her house and all the messages of support they had received. She highlights her mother’s character by stating that many people mentioned how Menaka Irani would help them with their financial struggles without expecting the money back. She also proceeds to thank the doctors and nurses at Nanavati Hospital, Mumbai and the consulting doctors at the Post Graduate Institute of Medical Education & Research, Chandigarh, and Belle Vue Hospital, Kolkata. 

The director and choreographer was showered with love from many of her friends and colleagues under her post. Heart emojis were commented by celebrities like Zoya Akhtar, Hrithik Roshan, Sonu Sood, Karan Johar, Bhumi Pednekar, and more. Sania Mirza commented, “Love you and Auntie so much.” showing support for the grieving family. 

Shah Rukh Khan, Gauri Khan, and Suhana Khan were seen visiting Farah Khan’s house. Celebrities like Akshay Kumar, Rani Mukerji, and Shilpa Shetty, among others, visited Farah Khan as well. 

Zoya Akhtar also posted a picture of Menaka Irani with an emotional caption, showing her love towards her late aunt 

Sajid Khan has also posted a throwback picture with the caption “Still can’t believe you are gone…luv u forever mummy..”

A Positive Outlook


Farah Khan starts concluding her note by saying that she doesn’t want to miss her late mother as she will “always be a part of me”. She stated that now it’s time to get back to work, which is what her mother was always proud of. She ended the note with, “I want to celebrate her every day.”
