Fawad Khan reveals he’s in touch with Ranbir Kapoor after Ae Dil Hai Mushkil, “I’ve enjoyed a very good relationship with the Kapoor family”

In a chat with Pinkvilla, Pakistani superstar Fawad Khan opened up about various topics, from his upcoming series, ‘Barzakh’, to his journey in Bollywood. He revealed that he is still in touch with co-actors and friends in Indian cinema like Ranbir Kapoor, Sonam Kapoor and Karan Johar. “I am in touch, on and off. We talk on chat or phone sometimes.” He also has some producer friends with whom he keeps in touch and maintains a “friendly” and “cordial” equation. He added, “There’s no love lost.”

On his relationship with the Kapoors 

Fawad spoke on his dynamic with his ‘Ae Dil Hai Mushkil’ co-actor, Ranbir Kapoor. He said, “I’ve enjoyed a very good relationship with the Kapoor family and there is still a lot of love and respect.” He revealed that he has not watched Ranbir’s recent blockbuster film Animal on Netflix yet. He added that he is eager to watch it, “Everyone has been recommending it.”

Why are Pakistani dramas so popular in India 

Many Pakistani dramas, including ‘Humsafar’ and ‘Zindagi Gulzar Hai’ which were some of Fawads first projects are still talked about and loved in India. When asked why he thinks these dramas strike a chord with Indian audiences, Fawad said that the entertainment industry in Pakistan was primarily television, so it became its strong suit. “We learned how to work on narrative for television.” He added that similarly, he thinks India’s strong suit is mainly cinema.   

His Bollywood Journey 

The Pakistani superstar has been making headlines after various reports speculating his return to Bollywood after eight years. Fawad first appeared in Bollywood in 2014 with Sonam Kapoor’s ‘Khoobsurat.’ After that, in 2016, he starred in the widely loved films – ‘Kapoor and Sons,’ alongside Alia Bhatt and Sidharth Malhotra, and ‘Ae Dil Hai Mushkil,’ alongside Anushka Sharma and Ranbir Kapoor. 

However, after the 2016 Uri attacks, relations between Pakistan and India deteriorated and a ban on Pakistani artists working in India ensued. While the ban has since been removed, Fawad’s career in Indian cinema has been paused since then. Many fans have been eager to see the actor back on Bollywood’s screen, and speculations about his return have fans eager to hear more updates.

Is Fawad Khan returning to Bollywood?

According to Filmfare, Fawad will reportedly be starring in a Hindi film alongside actress Vaani Kapoor that is set to go into production soon. Sources revealed that the film’s pre-production has been locked in and shooting will start in London soon. 

However, no official announcement has been made and Fawad has not commented on any projects yet. When asked about his plans to do something in Bollywood in his interview with Pinkvilla, he said, “I always say, when the time is right, things will happen on their own.”

Rumoured to cameo in ‘Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3’

Recently, rumours were circulating in entertainment circles that Fawad would also be making a special appearance in the highly-anticipated film, ‘Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3’, which stars Kartik Aaryan, Triptii Dimri, along Vidya Balan. But, the rumours have turned out not to be true. Producer Bhushan Kumar said, “No, this piece of news is false, totally,” as reported in the Hindustan Times.
