The first session of Lok Sabha took place on 24th June with the recently elected members of the parliament taking oath.
Introduction
The session of parliament is a momentous aspect of the parliamentary operations which refers to the time when the elected members of parliament meet and discuss about the smooth functioning of the tasks in hand. During this time the members discuss and debate about the ongoing problems and challenges, new laws and policies and how to carry them, reviewing the budget the national and international troubles.
Generally there are 3 main sessions of the Lok Sabha namely The Budget Session, The Monsson Session and The Winter Session each of the sessions encounters multiple gatherings and assemblies to have a discussions on these issues.

The inaugural session of the 18th Lok Sabha occured on 24th June. BJP’s Bhartruhari Mehtab is the temporary speaker of the 18th session of the Lok Sabha until a new speaker is elected on the basis of votes, there was an argument presented by the INDIA bloc that Mehtab should not be at that place because it deviates us from the usual practice of the parliament of appointing the senior most member from the parliament for the same.
The session began with the new elected members of parliament taking oath however some of the leaders were unable to take their oaths because of various reasons like Abdul Rashid Sheikh, he has been lodged in jail in a a case related to funding terrorism. Rajiv Pratap Rudy was no able to take the oath because of Bhojpuri language not being listed in the eighth schedule of the constitution.
Major issues to be discussed in the Lok Sabha session
First and the most important issue is the irregularities encountered in the NEET-UG exam by the NTA which is responsible for the smooth conduct of the exam is facing heavy criticism from the students who had been working hard for the same the news highlighted when 67 students scored 720 out of 720 marks in the exam held.
Another major issue which shall be taken into consideration is the safety protocols of the railways in India after the major accident of Kanchenjunga Express taking place in West Bengal which also led to the death of 10 individuals. This accident has intensified the call on improved railway safety.
PM Modi while addressing he session reminded the members of Parliament about the National Emergency which took place under Indira Gandhi, he stated how it was a big troubling period in the citizens life and how it hindered the basic rights of the citizens of the democratic country by acting as the repulsion force and the importance of learning from the past as 255 June will mark the 50th anniversary of the emergency faced by the people of our homeland.

He also stated how he need “responsible oppositions” for the decision making process carried out in the parliament emphasizing the need of debates and discussions rather than the drama.
Reacting to the same the opposition said that the government should focus on the ongoing concerns which requires immediate steps and that it would not help them govern the country by constantly bringing up the national emergency.
The first session of the 18th Lok Sabha will have its conclusion on 3rd July leading to the conclusion of the session of Rajya Sabha as well.
