A Long-Awaited Update from the Co-Creator

Fans of Phineas and Ferb have reason to celebrate! Co-creator Dan Povenmire recently took to Instagram to share an exciting update regarding the highly anticipated revival of the hit Disney Channel animated series. On October 2, Povenmire revealed that the first episode of Phineas and Ferb season 5 is officially complete. The announcement was accompanied by a photo showing the team celebrating in front of the show’s iconic logo.

The Instagram post quickly gained traction, amassing over 259,000 likes and more than 2,000 comments. One of the highlights was a comment from Vincent Martella, who voices Phineas Flynn, expressing his enthusiasm with a simple yet powerful “YEEESSSSS.” Martella’s comment alone garnered over 465 likes, reflecting the excitement shared by the show’s fanbase.

A Beloved Series Returns

Phineas and Ferb, which originally ran for four seasons from 2007 to 2015, is known for its creative storytelling and vibrant characters. The show, created by Dan Povenmire and Jeff “Swampy” Marsh, follows the extraordinary adventures of step-brothers Phineas Flynn and Ferb Fletcher as they make the most of their 104 days of summer vacation. Their imaginative escapades, ranging from building roller coasters to traveling through time, captured the hearts of both kids and adults alike.

In addition to the adventures of the brothers, one of the series’ standout features is the subplot involving their pet platypus, Perry. Unbeknownst to the brothers, Perry is a secret agent working under the alias “Agent P.” His mission? To stop the evil scientist Dr. Heinz Doofenshmirtz from carrying out his outlandish schemes. Povenmire voices the bumbling villain, while Dee Bradley Baker provides the voice for Perry.

The original run of the show consisted of 129 episodes, each filled with humor, clever writing, and memorable musical numbers. The show’s success led to two feature-length movies: Phineas and Ferb the Movie: Across the 2nd Dimension in 2011 and Phineas and Ferb the Movie: Candace Against the Universe in 2020.

A Star-Studded Cast Reunites

Much of the original voice cast is returning for the revival, bringing even more excitement to fans. Vincent Martella, who voiced Phineas throughout the series, will once again lend his voice to the character. Thomas Brodie-Sangster, who originally voiced Ferb, will be replaced by David Errigo Jr., who previously voiced the character in the 2020 movie.

Other returning cast members include Ashley Tisdale, reprising her role as Candace Flynn, the brothers’ older sister, whose goal throughout the series is to catch her brothers in the act and report them to their mother. Tisdale’s performance as the hyperactive and determined Candace was a fan favorite, as was the ongoing subplot involving her crush on Jeremy, voiced by Mitchel Musso.

Caroline Rhea returns as the voice of Linda Flynn-Fletcher, the boys’ mother, while Richard O’Brien once again voices their laid-back father, Lawrence Fletcher.

The Anticipated Revival of a Fan Favorite

The upcoming revival was first announced in 2023 and is set to air sometime in 2024. According to a previous TikTok post from Povenmire, Disney plans to bring back the series for two additional seasons, comprising 40 new episodes. Given the show’s multi-generational appeal, the news was met with excitement from fans both young and old.

During its original run, Phineas and Ferb became a staple of children’s programming and was praised for its wit, creativity, and heart. It also boasted numerous award nominations, including winning a Daytime Emmy Award for Outstanding Writing in Animation and several Primetime Emmy Awards for Outstanding Individual Achievement in Animation.

Looking Forward to New Adventures

With the completion of the first episode of season 5, the long-awaited return of Phineas and Ferb is closer than ever. Fans can expect more of the zany and inventive adventures that made the series a classic. From musical numbers to Perry’s secret missions, the revival promises to capture the same magic that made the show such a beloved part of Disney Channel history.

As the team celebrates this milestone, anticipation continues to build for what new and exciting stories will unfold for Phineas, Ferb, and their friends in the episodes to come. With the return of these beloved characters and the talents behind them, the revival is set to once again charm audiences when it premieres in 2024.
