The Marvel Cinematic Universe has produced Madame Web, another women-led tentpole, following the box office failure of The Marvels, starring Brie Larson, the previous year.
It’s worth noting that Sony Pictures Entertainment, which holds the film rights to Spider-Man and related characters, has been expanding its Spider-Man universe with films like “Venom” and “Morbius.” There were rumors and speculation in the past about a potential Madame Web movie being in development within Sony’s Spider-Verse which was confirmed a few months ago.
The next Marvel film Madame Web, which stars Dakota Johnson in the lead role, had its world premiere on Monday in Los Angeles. Following the failure of the female-led ensemble film The Marvels the previous year, many have praised the film in the initial reactions following its screening.
About the movie “Madame Web”
Madame Web narrates the independent beginnings of one of the most intriguing female characters in Marvel publishing, according to a statement. In the gripping drama, Dakota Johnson plays Manhattan paramedic Cassandra Webb. Webb discovers she has the ability to look into the future and realizes she can use this knowledge to alter it. She develops relationships with three young ladies who, if they can all escape a dangerous present, are destined for great destinies after being forced to face truths about her past.
In a statement, Dakota discussed her role in the movie, saying, “When you meet Madame Web in this movie, it’s her origin tale. This is how Cassie turned into Madame Web. Thus, we begin in her early years as a lady. In the end, she becomes an elderly woman with a neurological illness in the comics. However, since we’re starting so early on, she is a paramedic, a kind of folk hero who is a self-reliant and sophisticated woman.”
Starring in Madame Web, which was directed by SJ Clarkson, are Dakota Johnson, Sydney Sweeney, Tahar Rahim, Mike Epps, Emma Roberts, Celeste O’Connor, and Adam Scott.
The positive, negative, and ugly things that X users have stated about Madame Web are as follows:
Positive
- “I’ve been waiting my entire life for the movie #MadameWeb. I sobbed, laughed, and applauded uncontrollably. Was it flawless? Perhaps not. However, as seen by this most recent S.J. Clarkson escapade, the film industry is still around. Marvel is rescuing movies”, a user commented.
- “#MadameWeb is a superb film with some of the best performances and editing ever, and it is amazingly written. Another reviewer said, “It even has good cinematography and an intriguing concept; the way they executed her web connecting them all is brilliant.”
- “#MadameWeb I am crying uncontrollably right now. This is the most exquisite and masterfully crafted narrative I have ever read. I’m still in shock at how wonderful that was. made me cry for real. A third individual made the following observation: “And especially that part that was just so incredibly heart-touching words can not describe.”
Negative
- “#MadameWeb is doing great. Honestly, not much can be said. The main actors are endearing. I mean, Dakota Johnson is a weird witch. There are superhero meets slasher/FINAL DESTINATION overtones. However, it’s not that complicated. Not catastrophic. Just kind of there,” X users commented.
Criticism
- One person in particular, though, didn’t treat the video very well. “#MadameWeb is an embarrassing mess,” they wrote. It’s arguably the worst comic book movie I’ve ever seen, a waste of talented talents. crappy editing, terrible dialogue, and an overall ridiculous structure. I waited there, perplexed, while each scene was approved by someone. Memes will make it worthwhile.
Finally, on February 16, Madame Web will be released in theaters in Telugu, Tamil, Hindi, and English.
