Gautam Adani to invest Rs 2 Trillion Commitment to Gujarat’s Clean Energy Revolution
“The Adani Group, led by the wealthiest Asian, Gautam Adani, disclosed its bold plan of investing Rs 2 trillion in Gujarat over the next five years. The conglomerate, known for its diverse interests from apples to airports, is strategically constructing three factories dedicated to manufacturing solar modules, wind turbines, and hydrogen electrolyzers. In the expansive Rann of Kutch desert, the group is spearheading the development of the world’s largest green energy park, covering an impressive 725 square kilometers. This groundbreaking initiative is poised to generate 30 gigawatts of electricity from solar energy and establish a comprehensive renewable energy manufacturing ecosystem for solar and wind.
Over the course of the next five years, the Adani Group aims to inject over Rs 2 lakh crore (USD 25 billion) into Gujarat, resulting in the creation of more than 1 lakh direct and indirect jobs. Gautam Adani made this significant announcement during the 10th Vibrant Gujarat Global Summit.
Adani Group’s Vision: Constructing the World’s Largest Green Energy Park
The group’s flagship project involves constructing the world’s largest green energy park in Khavda, Kutch, capable of producing 30 gigawatts of renewable energy over an expansive 725 square kilometers—visibility from space being a testament to its magnitude. The development of this green supply chain is set to establish the largest integrated renewable energy ecosystem, encompassing solar panels, wind turbines, hydrogen electrolyzers, green ammonia, PVC, and expansions in copper and cement production.
Adani shared that the group has already invested over Rs 50,000 crore out of the Rs 55,000 crore commitment made by 2025 during the previous summit. Acknowledging India’s economic growth, he highlighted a remarkable 185 percent increase in GDP and a 165 percent surge in per capita income since 2014, despite the challenges posed by geopolitical conflicts and the ongoing pandemic.
Praising Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership, Adani credited the transformation of India from a nation seeking a voice on global platforms to one that now creates global platforms. He commended Modi’s initiatives, such as the solar alliance platform and leadership at the G20, setting benchmarks for a more inclusive world order. Adani expressed optimism for India’s future, emphasizing Modi’s foresight in harnessing the country’s youth to build a developed nation by 2047.
Having participated in every Vibrant Gujarat Summit since its inception two decades ago, Adani described the event as a manifestation of Prime Minister Modi’s extraordinary vision, characterized by grand ambitions, massive scale, meticulous governance, and flawless execution.”
At the previous summit, he announced his commitment to invest over Rs 55,000 crore by 2025. He has already exceeded Rs 50,000 crore across various sectors, surpassing his target of creating 25,000 direct and indirect jobs.”
Gautam Adani emphasized that the Adani Group is actively expanding green supply chains, incorporating solar panels, green ammonia, hydrogen electrolyzers, and wind turbines to reinforce the Atma Nirbhar Bharat initiative. Elaborating on this, Adani stated, “We are enhancing the green supply chain for an Aatmanirbhar Bharat and building the largest integrated, renewable energy ecosystem.”
He highlighted the construction of the world’s largest green energy plant in the Khavda district of Gujarat’s Kachchh. This expansive plant, covering 725 sq. km, will boast a capacity of 30 GW of renewable energy. Adani also praised the success of the Gujarat Summit, attributing it to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of “merging grand ambition, massive scale, meticulous governance, and flawless execution.” He credited India’s remarkable economic growth, citing a 185 percent increase in GDP since 2014 and a 165 percent surge in per capita income.
Terming these achievements as “unparalleled” in the face of geopolitical conflicts and the global pandemic, Adani commended Prime Minister Narendra Modi for the inclusion of the Global South in the G20 group of nations during India’s presidency.
The addition of the Global South to the G20 is a defining moment in modern history,” remarked Gautam Adani. The tenth edition of the Vibrant Gujarat Global Summit is currently in progress in Gujarat until January 12, under the theme “Gateway to the Future.” The summit serves as a global platform for business collaboration, knowledge sharing, and strategic partnerships aimed at fostering inclusive growth and sustainable development.
