Germany has increased the annual visa quota for skilled Indian workforce 20,000 to 90,000, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said on Friday while addressing the 18th Asian Pacific Conference of German Business.
Today on the 25th of November, Narender Modi announced that Germany is going to increase India’s annually skilled workforce visa quota from 20,000 to 90,000. This announcement was made while addressing the 18th Asian Pacific Conference of German Business 2024.
German chancellor Olaf Scholz said this while addressing the 18th Asian Pacific Conference of German Business 2024, “Today Indians are the largest group of foreign students at our universities. Last one year the number of working Indians grew by 23,000. That talent is a welcome addition to our labour market,” He also said that we are working on improving visa procedures with the help of digitization, faster processing and user friendly initiatives.

However, he also highlighted that Germany is planning to reduce unskilled and irregular migration. He said at the same time we are reducing irregular migration and making smooth returns of those workers who have no right to live in our country. The message is that Germany is open for skilled workers but we will decide who’s come.
The German Chancellor also emphasized the importance on cooperation between two countries in the field of technology and defense And he said, “We want to deepen our cooperation in the field of defense and we agree to bring our militaries closer together”

The agreement with Germany will be the first pact under the G20. This skill based migration will open a pathway for the professional skilled workers who have aimed to work with Germany.This new job visa policy from Germany highlights the country’s growing interest in the skilled Indian workforce. Every year with this expansion of visa quota Indians professionals have many job opportunities with Germany in various sectors, including information technology, engineering, healthcare and more. According to the recent data, Indian skilled workers have risen in Germany for the last 2 years.
