In the trailer, Gi-Hun is seen guiding other contestants to help save their lives. He carries a heavy sense of guilt from Season 1, where many of his friends lost their lives during the games.

In the trailer, contestants are given the option to quit the game if they wish. Gi-Hun tries to convince them to leave, but many refuse and choose to participate, drawn by the huge cash prize for winning. Meanwhile, the game’s creators keep a close eye on Gi-Hun, as Player 456 returns to rebel against the system this time.

Squid Game’s success

When Squid Game was released in 2021, it became a massive hit and ranked among the top 10 shows on Netflix. This time, newcomers may be unaware of the horror that awaits in the games, but Squid Game Season 2 promises even more dangerous challenges and deep suspense. The announcement for Season 2 came shortly after the success of Season 1.

Squid Game’s director’s statement

The creator and director of Squid Game, Hwang Dong-hyuk, discussed the second season during a promotional event in Italy, as reported by Reuters.He said, “In Season Two, Gi-hun (played by Lee), who survived Season One, returns to the games, not to win this time around, but to put an end to these games. There is going to be a larger number of characters this time and more intriguing games that are all worthy of a lot of the viewers’ love and support. Gi-hun is a very different person in Season Two. This time around he wants revenge. He wants to catch the people behind the games and he wants to bring them to justice.”
