Another rail accident in Uttar Pradesh 

On July 18, 2024, the Chandigarh-Dibrugarh Express derailed near Jhilahi Railway Station in Uttar Pradesh’s Gonda quarter. The incident happened around 2:37 PM, affecting six trainers of the train. 

The impact 

The derailment resulted in four casualties and several injuries. Rescue teams and senior officials from the railway and municipal administration are currently at the scene to manage the relief efforts​.

What did the chief minister say?

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has directed quarter officers to expedite the relief work and insure proper treatment for the injured. The cause of the derailment is under investigation.

The rescue teams have been trying hard since the morning. Till now there is now more news related to death.

The clashes happened due to the crash

A 40 member medical crew has been transferred with 15 ambulances waiting to rush the cases to the nearby hospital.

Pankaj Singh, CPRO, of the North Eastern Railways informed that several trains have been hit and impacted due to the accident.

The route of the Katihar- Amritsar Express and Guwahati- Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Katra express has been diverted as well.

Four coaches of the AC cube landed a few kilometers across the Jhulahi railway station.

One of the coaches just disaccorded and flipped while landing with its passengers waiting on the top.
