Google Has Shipped Over 40 Million Pixel Smartphones Since 2016

Francisco Jeronimo, Vice President at Global Research Firm IDC  has revealed that the Big tech company has sold over 37.9 Pixel Smartphones between 2016 and 2023 which is a surged double digit growth in recent years. The overall sales have led the tech giant to hit a milestone of around 40 million Pixel Phones shipped.

In the previous 12 months, Google has sold over 12 millions units which is a substantial growth over the 7.3 million units sold in the year 2019.

Google Pixel is a brand developed by Google. It is a brand of electronic devices that run either on ChromeOS or Android Operating System. The Google Pixel deals in various electronic products such as Phones, Tablets, Laptops, Smartwatches, Accessories. The brand mainly focuses on Pixel Phones.

Google has also developed software for Pixel namely Pixel UI (Pixel Launcher). It works like an android skin which has some added features and various designs.

Pixel Smartphone Series

Google started Nexus Series of Phone back in 2010 but they didn’t get popular in the market, the overall sales were limited. After years the company came with a new idea, Pixel Project. The vision of the tech giant was to develop premium smartphones with a good camera and storage and provide great android experience to users.

The first Pixel phone was launched in October 2016 at the Made by Google event, it indeed amazed the audience with its great camera quality and features. The Night Sight Mode integrated in the phones caught the photo enthusiasts attention. Since then, the tech company has been releasing new phones with new features and updates adding to its mobile series.

The initial models Pixel / XL to Pixel 4 / XL are discontinued and unsupported. Pixel 5 to Pixel 6 and 6 Pro are also discontinued but will be supported for the next few years.

Pixel 6a to Pixel Fold are currently sold and will be in continuation further. Pixel 8 and 8 Pro are launched and will be available from 12th October 2023.

Pixel 8 and 8 Pro – Specifications and Price

Google unveiled the latest models Pixel 8 and 8 Pro during the Made by google event which was held on 4th October 2023. The company also launched the Pixel watch 2 and both the smartphones and watch will be made available from 12th October 2023.

Top Specifications

Design – The handset is similar to the previous models but there are some changes such as the edges will be curvier and will be smaller in size compared to Pixel 7.

Processor – Google has integrated the next – gen, Tensor G3 chipset for better performance.

Camera – Pixel 8 and 8 Pro will capture spectacular images with its triple camera setup with a 50-megapixel Octa-PD main camera and 8x Super-Res digital zoom plus a 12-megapixel sensor with autofocus and Macro abilities. In the front, it bears a 10.5 – mp camera for selfies and videos.

Battery – The phone will come with a 4575 mAH battery, supporting 27W fast wire charging and also supporting 18W wireless charging.

Price And Availability

Pixel 8 will be available in two storage variants – 128 GB will cost Rs. 75,999 and 256 GB variant will cost Rs 82,999. Pre- orders are open on Flipkart with sale offers, Rs 8,000 discount offer on ICICI bank, Kotak bank and Axis bank cards.
