Halle Bailey is known for her recent role in playing Ariel in Little Mermaid a Disney live-action adaptation of the original classic fairytale. Her role as Ariel in Little Mermaid brought a lot of criticism, as many people were quick to point out that in the original story, Ariel was portrayed as white in contrast to Halle’s African-American Ariel. People claimed this change of the original casting was unfaithful to the story and revoked its authenticity. To this criticism Disney simply stated that Ariel “is a mermaid” and her race has no significance.
Halle Bailey and her longtime boyfriend DDG an American Rapper and YouTuber, have announced the birth of their first child in a series of heart-melting Instagram posts. The pair have been together since 2021 and have maintained their relationship in the privacy away from the social media flurry and now the couple has welcomed their baby boy. Halle kept her pregnancy under wraps despite the months and months of speculation leading up to this, while the fans kept speculating and questioning if Bailey was pregnant or not, the singer and actress refused to answer any comments or feed into the speculations and rumours floating around social media.
Bailey was spotted attending various events whilst also trying to hide her pregnancy and dodge the speculations, which ensued in a carefully executed plan including various flowy outfits, an orange flow one at the MTV VMAs that grabbed everyone’s attention. To careful and creative angles in pictures on her social media and wears many flowy gowns and dresses to evade the speculations. The fans although were not convinced, going as far as to think that the couple had gotten married in a secret wedding ceremony which of course was false. Halle never fed into the rumours and even joked about it in a video where she told her fans to “leave her alone” in regards to all the pregnancy comments.
The couple announced the birth of their newborn son in a series of awe-inspiring social media posts, where Halle posted a picture of the couple holding their son’s hand that was donned in a gold bracelet that said “Halo” on it. This adorable picture was then captioned by the new mama gushing over the joy and love she felt “The greatest thing that 2023 could have done for me was bring me my son” and also adding “The world is desperate to know you” as a cheeky joke that was the months full of speculation leading up to the birth of Halo.
DDG also took to his social media posting the same picture with a caption calling his newborn son “his biggest blessing so far”. The couple’s joy and delight were felt through the series of social media posts and the comments of the posts were filled with the same, many friends, family and fans took to the comment section to congratulate the new parents on this new chapter of their lives. Nicki Minaj wrote, “Welcome to earth, Halo. We’ve been expecting you. ???? congrats, mama! ????”. celebrities like Rachel Zegler, Kali Uchis, Winnie Harlow and many others flooded the comments section congratulating Bailey and sending their love to little Halo.
