Gaza Strip hailers, Hamas, have withdrawn their support for talks accusing Israel for ‘unserious attitude’ towards the negotiations.

Hamas’ accusations about ‘Leniency’

The weekend’s terrible attack of Israel on Gaza has caused the parties to come down on a consensus involving Arab moderators as well as countries of Egypt and United States. The Bomb attack was targeted for the Hamas Military Chief, Moh. Deif in Southern part of Gaza. Both the parties had an intense 3-day discussions about disarming and exchange of hostages from the October 7 attacks of Hamas. Adding to this, this would have been a six week long ceasefire of Gaza strip.

The Egyptian officials also said that the Israeli negotiators would provide approvals on most of the conditions, but would then try to put forth certain amendments or changes which derailed the flow of the entire negotiation process. Izzat-El-Reshiq, member of political of Hamas, stated that the Israeli Prime Minister, Natanyahu, was trying to pushover the international efforts by the mediators to solve the crisis. The officials at Cairo and Qatar gave the statements that even after a three-day long intensive discussion including points of both sides, the negotiations came to a halt without any mutual consensus borne out of it.

Background of October 7 Attack

If the entire process of the contemporary paused discussion got to a productive conclusion, it would have resulted into release of Palestinian prisoners in Israel. These prisoners were from the October 7 incident, when gunmen entered the borders of Israel and killed more than 1,200 people. They also captured around 250 civilians as hostages and took them back to Gaza. These gunmen are kept as prisoners in Israel. The negotiation was about exchange of these abovementioned hostages in both the war-prone regions.
