Hanif Kureshi’s Art

He began his career with Ogilvy as a Senior Art Director in 2003 then with Wieden+Kennedy. He founded St+Art in 2013, where he strongly believed in the power of creating art publicly and expressing oneself out in the open because he believed the streets to be his Art Gallery. Hanif Kureshi was known for his passion for street art and typography.

He used St+Art to foster a feeling of community and encouraged artists to take a step forward and outside of the traditional norms to discover one’s unique perspective on art. Many admired his Urdu typography which was his recent work.

Hanif Kureshi turned Delhi Lodhi Art District into India’s first open-air gallery which showcases his Handpainted Type project and his bold signs of Indian street art. Through Sta+Art, he made art available for everyone and blended the ordinary into public space artwork.

His hard work is clearly evident through a stroll in the Lodhi Art District, capturing the images of those beautiful murals, allows one to experience the influential impact of Kureshi’s art.
