HAR GHAR TIRANGA Campaign engulfs the nation ahead of Independence Day

0

The Har Ghar Tiranga campaign is a key initiative of the Government of India as a part of the Independence Day celebrations across the country.

The campaign invites all citizens to hoist the tricolor from 9th to 15th August and pay their respect. People have been encouraged to hoist the flag at their homes, shops and offices and become a part of the Independence Day fervour. Our flag represents the ultimate spirit of freedom and unity, and is a symbol of our national consciousness. It is key part of all national celebrations. The campaign endeavors to take the flag, and its significance and spirit, to each of our homes, not just to the elites and government offices or functionaries. It urges citizens to become active stakeholders in nation building and hopes to ignite respect for the tiranga and instill patriotism and national pride.

As a part of the initiative, the government has also started other subsidiary activities and contests like ‘Selfie with Tiranga,’ ‘My Tiranga Journey Reel contest,’ ‘Har Ghar Tiranga Quiz 2024,’ and urged people to share their stories and experiences.

The campaign was officially launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi as he urged the citizens to make ‘Har Ghar Tiranga’ a “memorable mass movement.” He had earlier used his monthly radio programme, Mann Ki Baat, to encourage people as well. A special caller tune has also been started whenever we place a phone call, to spread awareness.

Today, Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar along with Union Ministers Gajendra Singh Shekhawat, Ram Mohan Naidu, Kiren Rijiju and Mansukh Mandaviya, flagged off a Tiranga rally from the Bharat Mandapam, which will end at Major Dhyan Chand Stadium. At the event, Dhankhar stated, “The ‘Tiranga’ teaches us that no matter the conditions and challenges, nothing is above the national sentiment.” The Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh Mohan Yadav also took part in a Tiranga Yatra program at boat club in Bhopal while External Affairs minister S. Jaishankar posted pictures of him hoisting the tricolour at his residence.

Various such tiranga yatras, rallies, cleaning drives, melas, marathons, competitions, etc. have begun across the nation and more will take place in the coming days. Many organizations and state governments have planned events on a big scale for the week.

The campaign was initially launched two years back in 2022, under the aegis of the ‘Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav’ celebrations as the country completed 75 years of Independence. The campaign has now become an annual event in the lead up to August 15 celebrations. As Prime Minister Modi stated, “For the last few years, everyone’s fervour for the ‘Har Ghar Tiranga Abhiyan’ remains high in the country.”

From villages to cities, the campaign has engulfed the nook and corner of the country with the participation of children and adults alike and has set the tone for the big celebrations on Thursday.
