Minnesota Governor Tim Walz’s “Hello, Eau Claire!” ranked through the rowdy crowd of thousands of people. The Democratic party campaign on Wednesday unfolded its events in a much astonishing way. In the states of Wisconsin and Michigan the campaign of presidential candidate Kamala Harris and Minnesota Governor Tim Walz, her new election running mate, used his Midwestern credentials in an experiment.
Knotting the Midwestern voters with tighter ties as approximately 80 miles away from the home, over the Minnesota border Tim Walz affirmed that it must be comforting to the people that a candidate can actually “pronounce the name correctly?”.
The presidential election is nearly around the corner, having less than three months the Democratic party seemed to use all the tricks on its sleeve. They are up against the Republican opponent Donald Trump and his running companion U.S. Senator JD Vance.
Tim Walz seems to be a strong contender. Walz, a former teacher and football coach who served in the Army National Guard, defeated more well-known Democrats to take the No. 2 position. Kamala Harris and Walz had their first combined campaign tour to introduce him to voters nationwide.
Kamala Harris, in the evening of the campaign gathering in Detroit, emphasised they are the “joyful warriors” again highlighting the sense of exhilaration that engulfed the Democrats since the presidential ticket had her name replacing President Joe Biden’s position two weeks ago. According to the polls, Kamala Harris has successfully wiped out the Trump lead that had been generated from the last few weeks of President Joe Biden’s shaky campaign. Needless to say, the events made her a much favourable candidate and also helped to redouble her support from the Democratic Party.
According to the reports and claims of the Democratic party, Harris’s campaign has raised over $36 million after Tom Walz was revealed as the vice presidential candidate in a record time of 24 hours on Tuesday. Also bearing good news for the Democratic Party the campaign reports showed that over 27,000 supporters attended the Harris’s rally the day after.
The constituencies of Wisconsin and Michigan are depicted as the near must-wins for the Democrats in the 2024 presidential election. Whereas the support for these areas prevailed over the Republicans in 2016, laying the groundwork for Hillary Clinton’s unsuspected defeat and sealing the victory of Trump.
Later in 2020, Biden defeated Trump in both of these states. However, the opinion polls clearly indicated a tough fight in Michigan State before his departure. As there’s a large number of the state’s populace of Arab and Muslim Americans were furious at the humanitarian catastrophe resulting from Israel’s conflict with Hamas in Gaza.
Reminiscing The Harris’s Past
How could anybody forget the vice presidential debate of 2020? It went viral in 2020 and circulated to over a million people. Kamala Harris stopped Republican Mike Pence from interrupting her speech – “Mr. Vice President, I’m speaking.”
Something similar happened in the Presidential campaign. Reminding Democrats of how polarising the Israel conflict has been in general, several pro-Palestinian demonstrators in Detroit momentarily cut off Kamala’s speech with the chant, “Kamala, you can’t hide, we won’t vote for genocide”.
She took a few seconds break denoting the importance of people’s voice however when the chant interrupted her again she made a bold statement that if they want Donald Trump to win the presidential election then they can put forth the fact, or “Otherwise, I’m speaking”.
