Superman Actor Henry Cavill is all set to appear in the live-action world of ‘Voltron’. The project will be directed by Rawson Marshall Thurber, who co-wrote the script with Ellen Shanman, as reported by Variety.
Thurber’s recent work includes the Netflix action movie Red Notice (2021), which starred Gal Gadot, Ryan Reynolds, and Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, following his 2018 film Skyscraper, led by Johnson.
From Toei anime to Netflix
The Voltron TV series follows space explorers who operate a giant robot. It was adapted from Japanese anime by Toei Animation. It has resulted in several American adaptations, including Netflix’s eighth season “Voltron: Legendary Defender.”
The plot is yet to be disclosed, with Todd Lieberman from Hidden Pictures, Bob Kepler, Thurber, and David Hoberman from Hobie films are confirmed as producers. Cavill will co-star with Daniel Quinn-Toye, a rising actor with experience on television’s “Badults” and was Tom Holland’s understudy in Romeo & Juliet on the West End.
Henry Cavill teams up with Richie again
In the marvel summer blockbuster “Deadpool and Wolverine,” Cavill made a cameo as the Wolverine variant Cavillrine. He has reunited with Guy Ritchie for the action thriller “In the Grey,” featuring Jake Gyllenhaal and Eiza Gonzalez, and will lead Chad Stahelski much-anticipated
“Highlander” reboot, filming next year, both of which are being produced by Lionsgate. He’s also an executive producer for “Warhammer 40,000” at Amazon MGM studios, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
This year Cavill appeared in two action thrillers, Matthew Vaughan’s ‘Argyle’ for Apple Original Films and Guy Ritchie’s “The Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare“ for Lionsgate, as per The Hollywood Reporter.
