Hezbollah Commander Dies in an Israeli Strike in Southern Lebanon

Hezbollah commander, Taleb Abdullah, was killed when Israeli forces were bombarding the southern Lebanon border, which further escalated the fighting between the two groups. The news of the death was confirmed by Hezbollah on Tuesday. Hezbollah is a militant group of Lebanese Shia militias that is backed by Iran. The main objective of this group is to end the imperialism of America and Israel by gathering all the Muslims.

The dead commander, Taleb Abdulla, was also known as Abu Taleb among his militants. His death escalated the conflict, considering his high-ranking position in the group. After the death of Wissam Hassan al-Tawil in January, he was the second person to be termed a commander by the political and militia group Hezbollah. As this group is backed by Iran, both Iran and Israel have also locked their heads and have been fighting for the past eight months, troubling the local people living on both sides.

Along with sharing the news of the death of the commander, the group also shared a picture of the dead commander, Mr. Abdulla, along with a picture of Mr. al-Tawil, who died in January. The deaths of two supreme commanders in such a short span devastated and fumed the Hezbollah group. The Israeli military has not commented on the strike to kill the commander. It is clear, however, that their goal is to push the group north of the Litani River in Lebanon with the intent to stop cross-border attacks and get the people back to their homes.

Commander’s death escalated the war between Hezbollah and Israeli militant

It has also been noticed that recently, the group Hezbollah was also targeting the Iron Dome missile of Israel that they built for their defence. Along with that, he set off to fire the Hezbollah rockets last week, which blazed for a few days while Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu was on a visit to northern Israel. Seeing the incident, the Israeli Prime Minister announced against the Iran-backed group that severe action would be taken to “restore security to the north.”

Hezbollah started targeting Israel on October 8 as their leader, Hassan Nasrallah, claimed that through their attack they were trying to limit Israel’s attack on Gaza. However, it has been noticed that both militant groups tried to avoid larger conflicts during their fighting periods. However, Mr. Abdulla’s passing intensified the conflict as the militant organization from Lebanon launched one of its most powerful rocket assaults on Israel’s military and armed infrastructure on Wednesday. There is no immediate news of casualties from the Israeli military group but the Israeli army radio shared that Lebanon launched around 150 rockets on Wednesday as a response to the Israeli attack.

Hezbollah, the Iran-backed Lebanese militant group, has confirmed that they carried out attacks on military bases on Mount Meron in Israel, as well as on an arms factory that produces armored vehicles for the Israeli military. In response to these attacks, the Israeli military launched strikes on several launch sites across the border into Lebanon. This retaliation has been confirmed by Lebanon’s state-run news after the combat.

UN Security Council Backs Cease-Fire Resolution in Gaza

Meanwhile, 14 out of 15 United Nations Security Council members, except Russia, abstained from voting for the proposal to stop firing in Gaza. Both Israel and Gaza welcomed the UN Security Council proposal but they were noncommittal and have not formally embraced the plan. Even after the raid by Israeli militants on Gaza on Saturday to free the four hostages from Hamas, further questions remain about their acceptance of the United Nations proposal.
