Dunki Box Office Collection, Day 5: Despite fierce competition from Prabhas’ Salaar, the Shah Rukh Khan film experienced a noteworthy surge in audience attendance on Monday, Christmas Day.
Dunki Box Office Update, Day 5: Despite a slow start, Shah Rukh Khan’s Dunki picked up pace during the long Christmas weekend. The film, which initially earned Rs 29.2 crore, faced a drop on the second day but rebounded on Saturday and surpassed its opening day collections on Sunday. Christmas Day saw impressive footfall, adding Rs 22.50 crore to its total, reaching Rs 128.13 crore domestically in five days.
Red Chillies Entertainment reported Dunki’s global gross at Rs 211.13 crore after four days, eyeing the Rs 250 crore mark with Christmas collections. With 39.53% Hindi occupancy, evening shows drew the maximum audience. The film faces stiff competition from Salaar, which doubled Dunki’s Monday collections, reaching Rs 42.50 crore and amassing Rs 251.60 crore within four days. Dunki now needs a steady performance to capitalize on the upcoming New Year weekend.
Additionally, Dunki faces a challenging path to match Rajkumar Hirani’s last blockbuster, Sanju. Despite being a non-holiday release, Ranbir Kapoor’s starrer earned a comparable figure on its fifth day (Rs 22.10 crore) and concluded its cinema run with a total of Rs 342.53 crore. Current trade estimates suggest Dunki might struggle to achieve significant numbers at the box office.
Starring Taapsee Pannu, Vicky Kaushal, Boman Irani, and others, Dunki revolves around the concept of ‘Donkey Flight,’ depicting an illegal immigration method. Despite the uphill battle, Shah Rukh Khan, who already boasts two hits this year with Jawan and Pathaan, expressed overwhelming gratitude to his fans on Sunday. From his bungalow Mannat, he addressed his fans and conveyed appreciation for the love showered on Dunki.
Over the weekend, Dunki experienced a significant upswing, with Saturday’s collections rebounding to ₹25.61 crore nett, marking a substantial 27.29% increase from the previous day. This positive trend continued on Sunday, with figures soaring to ₹30.7 crore nett, reflecting a robust 19.88% rise and underlining the film’s growing popularity. While Monday’s numbers are early estimates, they indicate a collection of ₹22.5 crore nett.
The current estimated total net collection in India after five days is ₹128.13 crore. According to Sacnilk, as of Day 4, the total worldwide collection for the Rajkumar Hirani movie stands at ₹206 crore, with ₹79 crore from overseas. However, Red Chillies Entertainment offers slightly different figures, reporting a total worldwide collection for Dunki after four days as ₹211.13 crore, according to Gauri Khan’s Bollywood production company.
