He was not only a great actor but was also known for his dancing prowess. But in a recent interview, the actor revealed that he never planned to be a dancer while explaining why he felt the need to become one.
Govinda reveals that he never planned to be a dancer
In a recent interview with The Times Of India, actor Govinda made an interesting revelation that he never had a plan to become a dancer. He said, “ I didn’t know how to dance. Dance seekhna meri majboori thi.” He said that learning dance was not something he wanted to do but rather a compulsion.
The actor said that during the initial days of his career, big actors like Amitabh Bachchan and Mithun Chakraborty were award-winning actors. He said that he wondered, “ Main aisa kya karun jissay aagey nikal paunga?” Hence he felt the need to practice something beyond acting that would make him stand out.
He further said that, at that time he wondered what else he could do other than acting and recalls how “someone suggested, “Tere picture se zyada tere gaane chalte hai.” The Hero No.1 said that his songs such as (Aap Ke Aa Jane Se, I Am A Street Dancer, Bam Bam Bambai) were superhits and so decided to further improve his dancing skills.
How he became famous overnight
After focusing on his dancing skills, the actor said that he became famous overnight and got the opportunity to work with some of the greatest actors in the industry like Dilip Kumar, Dharmendra, Jeetendra, Shatrughan Sinha, Amitabh Bachchan, and Rajesh Khanna.
He then mentioned that after working with such extraordinary actors, he also started getting recognition as an actor. He concluded his statement by saying, “Nothing was planned.”
