Hurricane Debby Took the Lives of 5 And Floods the SouthEastern Coast of the US

Hurricane Debby battered Florida before falling into a tropical storm, leaving a tragic death of at least 5 and causing a landfall and flood in various regions of the southeastern coast of the US.

The report disseminated by The National Hurricane Centre brought a significant warning about the slow-paced storm. Debby might lead to more torrential rain in various regions of Georgia and the Carolinas. The National Hurricane Centre further predicted a “life-threatening” flood that can occur in these south-eastern regions, in the upcoming days. 

The National Hurricane Centre further notified as a Category 1 hurricane, Debby impacted a severe landslide in Big Bend, Florida. The speed of strong gusts reached 80 mph. Late that day, around 11a.m the wind speed reduced a little. became a tropical storm. 

Casualties of Debby 

A mobile home was struck by a falling tree in the town of Levy County. As authorities notified, this incident took the life of a 13-year-old. The horrible incidents of this storm continued. During the storm, an 18-wheel truck swerved into a canal in Hillsborough County, which is near the Tampa region. Later it was discovered that the driver had died in the accident. 

Further in Dixie County, a woman and a 12-year-old passed away in an automobile accident. This is the western side of Gainesville. Southern Georgia’s local media reported the death of a 19-year-old following the fall of a huge tree onto a porch at home.

The power circulation authority PowerOutage.com informed that almost 150,000 households and businesses in Florida experienced a power outage on Monday night. Further in South Carolina and Georgia, an additional 36000 people were without power. 

As the weather forecast notified Debby is predicted to skirt to the coastal side. On the way hitting Carolinas and Southeastern Georgia with heavy downpours. Then Debby is forecasted to move inland, in the coastal areas of South Carolina. 

On the bright side, the US Border Patrol stated that the powerful and strong gusts of Debby contributed to blowing ashore over $1 Million worth of cocaine packages, in the Florida Keys. 

The Police and Government Officials 

A state of emergency was proclaimed by the Governor of Florida Ron DeSantis for the anticipated affected sixty-one counties. His administration announced in a statement that 3,000 members of the National Guard had been called up. Ron DeSantis took to social Media “X” to notify the people about various precautions. Assuring people that the crew and other workers are working tirelessly to “restore power”.

As the downpour becomes more and more strong throughout the day. The Police in Sarasota, Florida are helping the people to land in a safe place. Reportedly more than hundreds of people were rescued by the police in this place. Approximately, 500 individuals were evacuated. The police took them away from their homes that were flooded and evacuated the danger zones towards safer ground. 

Further following Hurricane Debby’s deluge of rain, officials in Manatee County, Florida, reported that 207 individuals were lifted to higher ground through 58 water rescues.
