According to R. Madhavan, he once told his mother that he wanted to marry actor Juhi Chawla. He told his mother about his wish shortly after seeing Juhi in Qayamat Se Qayamat Tak (1988). In a video shared by Netflix India, Madhavan was speaking about his The Railway Men co-star.
R. Madhavan stated that after watching QSQT, he decided to marry Juhi Chawla.
R. Madhavan (born June 1, 1970) is an Indian actor, writer, director, and producer best known for his work in Tamil and Hindi films. He has received numerous awards throughout his career, including one National Film Award, four Filmfare Awards South, and one Tamil Nadu State Film Award. He is currently the President of the Film and Television Institute of India (FTII), which is based in Pune.
R. Madhavan is one of the few actors in India whose success in establishing himself in both the North and South Indian film industries has earned him multiple offers as a brand ambassador. It has also led to producers casting him in lead roles in bilingual films such as the English-Malayalam crossover film Nothing But Life and the Hindi-Tamil projects Yavarum Nalam and Irudhi Suttru. Furthermore, despite never appearing as a lead actor in a straight Telugu film (during the 2000s), the majority of his Tamil films are dubbed into Telugu, where he has created a box office market. Madhavan has a sizable female fan base, which grew after his romantic roles in Alaipayuthey and Minnale.
“Fortunately, you said yes,” R. Madhavan said after Juhi Chawla explained her reasons for joining the cast of Netflix’s original web series, The Railway Men. “I must admit that I would like to make a public confession,” I told my mother after watching Qayamat Se Qayamat Tak (QSQT), saying that I wanted to marry Juhi Chawla. The only goal was to marry Juhi Chawla.” Madhavan went on to say that he did not get to work with Juhi in the new series because she was cast after he had finished filming his parts.
Qayamat Se Qayamt Tak, directed by Mansoor Khan and starring Juhi opposite Aamir Khan, was a huge box-office success. It earned eight Filmfare awards, including Best Female Debut for Juhi, and was one of the top five-grossing films of 1988.
In the video, he also stated that his son was born during the Mumbai floods of 2005, while his wife was trapped in their car on the road. The actor-director went on to say that, despite not knowing who she was, the people around her helped her.
“My son was born during the deluge,” R. Madhavan explained. My wife was nine months pregnant and stuck in the car. Even our own people, I believe, could not have made such a significant contribution. They lifted the car and shifted it to the other side because they knew there was a pregnant woman inside. They did not know who it was.” Madhavan’s son Vedaant is now a swimming champion, having won five gold medals at the Malaysia Invitational Age Group Swimming Championships earlier this year.
Madhavan had yet to make his acting debut when Qayamat Se Qayamat Tak was released. He debuted in show business with the popular TV show Banegi Apni Baat in 1993. After appearing in several hit shows, including Sea Hawks, he made his film debut in 1997 with Inferno. He had previously appeared as a club singer in Is Raat Ki Subah Nahi.
Madhavan went on to make his Kannada debut in 1998 with Shanti Shanti Shanti and appeared in several Tamil films before making his Bollywood debut in 2001 with the popular romantic film Rehnaa Hai Terre Dil Mein.
Since then, he has appeared in a number of critically acclaimed and commercially successful films in a number of Indian languages. Priyamaana Thozhi, Aaytha Ezhuthu, Rang De Basanti, Mumbai Meri Jaan, 3 Idiots, and Tanu Weds Manu are among them. Madhavan co-wrote Rocketry: The Nambi Effect with Ramji Londonwaley in 2005 and directed it last year.
