In the final flourish of the 29th KIFF Israeli film bagged the final title

The 29th Kolkata international film festival which began on 6th December this year came to an end yesterday in which the Israeli film ‘children from nobody’ won the title prize.

What is the story about ‘Children from Nowhere’?

 The film ‘children from nowhere tells about the life of Jackie Ronan who is the right hand man of Margalit ,the founder and director of the place Jackie lives, which is a container in the outskirts of Tel Aviv, he grew up there as a teenager and never left founds out that the shelter he lives in is in danger of closing and goes to extreme ends for the battle of his life the last refugee from street.

The film directed by Erez Tadmor has won the title under the International Competition In Innovation Moving Images.

The globally recognized film got the Golden Royal Bengal trophy as the award along with 51 lakh rupees as cash price 

The best director award was claimed by Carlos Daniel Malave from Venezuela for his film ‘one way’ with 21 lakh rupees and the same trophy in the same section. Carlos said ‘It has been so much surprise This is a very important honor for my country,’ in his acceptance speech.

The gala came to an end with a special dance performance with the theme song of KIFF at Rabindra Sadan. While Aditi Rao as the prime guest she mentioned Kolkata as the city for filmmakers and creative people she said it was a real honor to be present in Kolkata where people celebrate arts.

The Special jury Award For the film “chalchitra ekhon”

The third award was given to the film “chalchitra ekhon” in the special jury segment which was the film of Arjun Dutt who is a director, producer, singer and actor. The film tells about the real life experiences of him about Sen who has casted him first in ’Chalchitra’ in 1981 this is the only Indian feature film in this premium category of films. In the award ceremony he thanked Mrinal sen for giving him the opportunity to create this masterpiece in Kolkata itself because its known as the city of Mrinal and him and Kolkata.

The best indian film in indian category was earned by the bodo film “Gorai Phakri”(wild swans) which is the film by Rajni Basmatary which is known as the ‘Hiral Sen memorial award for best film which has a prize money of 10 lakhs.in the same section the best director award was received by Shonet anthony Barretto for her ’Avni ki kismat’ which is a hindi film.In the indian languages film category the Meitei film ‘joseph’s son by Hoban Paban Kumar won the special jury awards.

The film from ninefold mosaic,myanmar ‘Broken stories from the myanmar coup’ won the NETPAC award for best film

The film ‘mon potongo’ made by Sarsmita maiti and Rajdeep Paul got the best bengali panorama film award and ‘Asampurno’ by amartya singa got the special jury award in the same category.

The documentary film ‘challenge’ by Sibanu Borah and Ramen Borah received the Golden royal bengal tiger award for the best indian documentary and the best Indian short film was ‘last rehearsal’ by Kamil Saif.

‘More than 240 films were shown in closer to two dozen venue centres at the KIFF  from December 5th to 12th’ the chairperson of the programme said.
