Vice President Kamala Harris in Her First presidential campaign Interview

Vice President Kamala Harris has defended shifting down from some of her further liberal positions in her first major TV interview of her presidential crusade, but claimed her “ values have not changed ” indeed as she’s “ seeking agreement ”. Sitting with her handling mate Minnesota Governor Tim Walz, Ms. Harris on Thursday( August 29, 2024) was asked about changes in her programs over the times, specifically her reversals on fracking and permitting illegal border crossings.

“I suppose the most important and most significant aspect of my policy perspective and opinions is that my values have not changed, ” Ms. Harris replied.

The interview with CNN’s Dana Bash gave Harris a chance to try to quell review that she has escaped unbridled surroundings while also giving her a fresh platform to define her crusade and test her political mettle ahead of an forthcoming debate with former President Donald Trump set for Sept 10. But it also carried threat as her platoon tried to make an instigation from the ticket shakeup following Joe Biden’s exit and last week’s Democratic National Convention.

VP Kamala Harris’s Vision

“First and foremost, one of my loftiest precedents is to do what we can to strengthen and support the middle class, ” Ms. Harris said. “ When I look at the bourne , the pretensions, the intentions of the American people, I suppose that people are ready for a new way forward. ” The CNN interview was taped at 1: 45 pm Thursday at Kim’s Cafe, an original Black- owned eatery in Savannah, Georgia, and aired in the evening.Ms. Harris also brushed off Trump’s questioning of her ethnic identity after the former chairman said she “ happened to turn Black ”. Ms. Harris, who’s of Black and South Asian heritage, said it was the “ same old, tired playbook ”.

She also said she’d name a Democratic to serve in her Cabinet if she were tagged, though she did not have a name in mind. Joint interviews during an election time are an institution in politics; Mr. Biden and Ms. Harris, Mr. Trump and Mike Pence, Barack Obama and Biden each did them at a analogous point in the race.

The difference is those other campaigners had all done solo interviews, too. Harris has not yet done an in- depth interview since she became her party’s standard deliverer five weeks ago , though she did sit for several while she was still Biden’s handling mate. Ms. Harris and Mr. Walz are still introducing themselves to choosers, unlike Trump and Biden, of whom people had near-universal mindfulness and opinion.

Vice President Kamala Harris on Mr. Biden

Harris said serving with Biden was “ one of the topmost honors of my career, ” as she reported the moment he called to tell her he was stepping down and would support her.During her time as Vice President, Ms. Harris has done on- camera and print interviews with The Associated Press and numerous other outlets, a much more frequent pace than the chairman — except for Biden’s late- stage media blitz following his disastrous debate performance that touched off the end of his crusade.

Harris’ lack of media access over the past month has become one of Republicans’ crucial attack lines. The Trump crusade has kept a census of the days she has gone by as a seeker without giving an interview and has suggested she needs a “ sitter ” and that’s why Walz will be there. “ I just saw Kamala Harris’ answer to a veritably weakly- phrased question, a question that was put in further as a matter of defense than curiosity, but her answer rambled incoherently, and declared her values have n0t changed,’” Trump posted online.

Mr. Trump’s Criticism of VP Kamala Harris’s interview

Mr. Trump has largely steered toward conservative media outlets when granting interviews, though he has held more open press conferences in recent weeks as he sought to reclaim the limelight that Ms. Harris’ elevation had claimed. Ms. Harris and Mr. Walz went out on a two- day machine stint through southeast Georgia that was crowned with an evening rally in Savannah.

Harris crusade officers believe that in order to win the state over Trump in November, she must make raids in GOP fortresses across the state. Democrats’ enthusiasm about their vote in November has surged over the past many months, according to polling from Gallup. About 8 in 10 Egalitarians now say they’re more enthusiastic than usual about voting, compared with 55 in March.

This gives them an enthusiasm edge they did n’t have before this time. Republicans’ enthusiasm has increased by much lower over the same period, and about two- thirds of Republicans now say they’re more enthusiastic than usual about voting. But at a packed arena on Thursday( August 29, 2024), Ms. Harris cast her incipient crusade as the sacrifice and encouraged the crowd to work hard to handpick her in November. “We’re then to speak verity and one of the effects that we know is that this is going to be a tight race to the end, ” she said.
