Another dissapointment in IND vs SA T20I 2023 due to rain showers?

India is now all set to take on a complete all-format series tour in South Africa which began
with a T20I match series. The first match of the T20I series was on 10th December, Sunday in
Kingsmead Stadium of Durban which was abandoned due to continuous rainpour. The T20I
squad is once again ready to be led by the best T20 batsman Suryakumar Yadav while spine chilling spinner Ravindra Jadeja will be supporting the squad as a Vice-captain in St. George park cricket stadium.

This will be their first face-off against each other in this format in 2023. Aiden Markram is looking forward to lead his boys in T20I and ODI formats as Bavuma has been dropped for the first two formats but the weather reports from the ground of Gqeberha are not pleasant. 63% of downpour is predicted ahead of today’s second IND VS SA T20I.

The three-match ODI Series will begin on December 17, 2023, under the captaincy of KL
Rahul with Rinku Singh and Rajat Patidar getting their maiden call-ups. Leg spinner
Yuzvendra Chahal will also be there for the ODI series. Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli will be
joining the squad for the two-match Test series with the opening fixture on 26th December.
Hardik Pandya has been ruled out from the tour due to an ankle injury.

Indian Cricket Team arriving at Durban, South Africa for IND vs SA.

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) had posted a video showing the welcome of the
T20I Squad in Durban. The video showcased how heavy rains welcomed the Indian players
wholeheartedly on 7th December, Thursday. Players were seen using their luggage as
umbrellas in order to protect themselves from the rains. This was virally surfaced on the
internet. Indian Opener and best ODI batsman Shubman Gill had arrived in Durban, South
Africa ahead of the series on 8th December,2023.

But as predicted, the rain proved as a complete mood spoiler because the weather reports had already said that there was 45% chance of rain which may get frustrating which was clearly experienced in Durban on 10th December. Players of both teams were seen chit-chatting in their dressing room while waiting for the showers to stop. But the lack of covers on South African pitches led to great disappointment. Former Indian cricket Captain Sunil Gavaskar criticized CSA for inadequate ground covers.

This Ind vs SA T20I series plays an important role because of the upcoming T20 World Cup which will be hosted in West Indies and the United States beginning from 4th June to 30th June 2024. The Indian coach Rahul Dravid has an opportnity to train T20 squad for the further face offs. There will be a clash between the positions for the opener between Shubman Gill, Ruturaj Gaikwad, and Yashasvi Jaiswal. The Head coach Rahul Dravid is looking forward to making an unbeatable squad as there is a plentiful of resources available as the South African pitches will experience a lot of pace and bounce throughout the white ball matches.
