Sri Lankan team is also in its transitional phase, Charith Asalanka is taking over the captaincy from Wanindu Hasaranga. The team will be same without some of their key bowlers who are not part of the match due to injuries and this might affect performance of the Sri Lankan Team. Openers from the Sri Lankan team would be Pathum Nissanka and Avishka Fernando. Wicket Keeper will be Kushal Mendis and the middle order will be focused on Charith Asalanka (Captain) and Dasun Shanaka (Captain who led Sri Lanka to the finals of Asia Cup 2023).

The bowling lineup includes the sharp Matheesa Pathirana who have showed an incredible performance in the Lanka Premier League as well as the Indian Premier League. Wanindu Hasaranga (The Previous Captain) and Maheesh Theekshana will also be an important asset for Sri Lankan bowling.

Historical Records

History says, India had the upper hand in T20I matches against Sri Lanka, winning 19 out of the 29 encounters, with Sri Lanka securing only 9 victories.

Absence of Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli

Both Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli are pivotal figures in India’s batting lineup, providing not only runs but also invaluable experience and leadership. Their absence creates a leadership vacuum that Suryakumar Yadav will need to fill quickly. Both Rohit and Kohli have traditionally opened for India in T20s, providing stability and aggressive starts, with their departure, India will need to find new opening combinations.

Without Kohli in middle order, team may need to adjust its batting order significantly. The focus will likely to be shift towards players like Rishabh Pant and Hardik Pandya. This would lead to more aggressive strategy, relying on power hitters to capitalize on the absence of traditional anchors.

Weather Forecast

On July 27, 2024, the weather in Pallekele, Sri Lanka, is expected to be warm with a current temperature of 28°C (82°F). The humidity is around 64%, and there is a possibility of patchy rain nearby. Given these conditions, there may be some interruptions due to rain, but the overall weather should allow for play. As always, it’s advisable to check closer to the match time for the most accurate and updated forecasts.

The pitch at Pallekele is generally favorable for batting, but it is expected to slow down as the match progresses, which may favor spinners. Pacers will need to adapt their strategies to succeed on this surface
