IND-W vs AUS-W 1st ODI was played on 28th December in Wankhede Stadium. Australia won against India with 6 wickets in the first ODI of three-match series. India’s 282 proved insufficient for the win. They need to back themselves up says Harmanpreet Kaur after defeat.

IND-W vs AUS-W 1st ODI: India wins the toss

IND-W won the toss and chose to bat. Indian openers Yastika Bhatia and Shafali Verma began the inning and the early fall of the wicket was a first jerk to the Indian batting order in the second over as Shafali Verma got out scoring 1 run. Richa Ghosh scored 21 runs before getting out on Annabel Sutherland’s ball in 7.3 overs. With Richa returning to the pavilion, Indian Captain Harmanpreet Kaur came to bat. After putting 9 more runs to the scoreboard, She lost the third wicket to Australia.

Jemimah and Pooja takes the innings further

Yastika Bhatia got out with just a run away from her half-century leaving India for 95/4 in 19.5 overs. Jemimah Rodrigues and Deepti Sharma made a partnership of 39 runs when Deepti Sharma’s ball was caught by Phoebe Litchfield. The sixth fall of the wicket as Amanjot  Kaur got caught out as the ball landed in the hand of Alana King. India received another shock as Sneh Rana was bowled by Megan Schutt in 37.4 overs. India was at 182/7 when Pooja Vastrakar entered the pavilion. With a thumping partnership of 68 runs, Jemimah Rodrigues scored 82 and missed a well-deserved century. India scores 282/8 at 50 overs

India received another shock as Sneh Rana was bowled by Megan Schutt in 37.4 overs. India was at 182/7 when Pooja Vastrakar entered the pavilion. With a thumping partnership of 68 runs, Jemimah Rodrigues scored 82 and missed a well-deserved century. With the most needing 62 runs of Pooja Vastrakar, India managed to put a good score of 282/8 in 50 overs.

Australia wins against India with 6 wickets in ODI

India came back in form with its bowling as Renuka Singh made Australian Captain AJ Healy go back to the pavilion without scoring a single run in the first over with 0/1. Giving Australia its worst start of the Inning, Indian bowlers were all set for further success but with a massive partnership of Phoebe Litchfield and Ellyse Alexander Perry of 148 runs, Australia managed to fight back in the 283-run chase.

On Deepti Sharma’s ball in 25.3 overs, Australia lost its second wicket as Pooja Vastrakar caught out E.Perry.  Litchfield was bowled by Sneh Rana after a commendable inning of 78 runs. B.L. Mooney’s 42 runs with 4 boundaries made the Indian bowling order helpless. McGrath’s further half-century took Australia near the victory. With smashing 68*, Tahila McGrath helped Australia to win their first ODI victory in the three-series match scoring 283 in 46.3 overs. With this, India loses its 8th consecutive ODI match in the homeland.

Australian Left arm batter, Phoebe Litchfield was awarded Player of the Match for her unbeatable contribution of  78 runs. The second match of IND-W vs AUS-W ODI will be played on 30th December in Wankhede Stadium. The must-win match for India will begin at 1:30 pm IST.
