The theme of the 78th Independence Day is Viksit Bharat 2047. During his longest speech, Prime Minister Narendra Modi while focusing on the theme mentioned that the government had sought suggestions from its citizens across the country while achieving this vision.

In his speech to the nation, he called for the inclusion on one-lakh youth without political backgrounds in public office.
He believes with this initiative, it will be easier to eliminate casteism and dynasties in politics. He stresses the need for young representatives to come from families with no political history, neither their parents, siblings, nor extended family members have been involved in politics

This surpasses his previous record of 86 minutes from 2016. he gave his shortest speech in 2017 which is of only 56 minutes His average speeches account for 82 minutes, making them the longest by any Indian prime minister. Jawaharlal Nehru previously held the record with a 72-minute speech.
