In a resounding display of dissent, a massive rally convened at Ramlila Maidan, New Delhi, as part of the India Bloc movement against the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). The gathering, drawing individuals from various walks of life, symbolized a unified outcry against perceived injustices and policies enacted by the BJP government.
The “Loktantra Bachao rally” on Sunday served as a platform for Congress to voice their concerns and grievances regarding the ‘Dictatorship’ of the Central Government which is Bharatiya Janata Party. An AAP member said that this Rally is for the Arrest of AAP Leader and Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal. The Aam Aadmi Party denied the accusations that ED has put on Arvind Kejriwal and said that Kejriwal would remain as New Delhi’s chief minister while the court decides on the next step. The Congress in return told the media that “Loktantra Bachao” Rally is not ‘person-centered’ but the ‘dictatorship’ of the ruling party.
Delhi Police has permitted the Rally with certain conditions that need to be followed. Ramlila Maidan can accommodate upto 1 lakh people but Delhi police has permitted only 20 thousand people inside the venue.
All the AAP leaders are reported to attend the Rally, including Sunita Kejriwal, Wife of Arvind Kejriwal.
The Loktantra Bachao Rally or “Save Democracy” rally by the opposition leaders is said to be a mark of INDIA BLOC’s commitment for fighting for Democracy.
Here are the things that people, members and leaders from Opposition Parties have to say about the “Save Democracy” Rally:
Congress Leader Rahul Gandhi said that Narendra Modi is Playing ‘Match-fixing’ in the upcoming elections.
BJP’s RP Singh in response to the rally said that the ‘Threat to Democracy is only from corrupt people, who have come together for the Rally’.
Congress Leader and Member Supriya Shrinate says that BJP won’t get more than 200 seats in the upcoming elections.
AAP members are saying that the Arrest of Arvind Kejriwal has made the graph for BJP down, People have their Sympathy for AAP leader. What do you think about this? Will this affect the Elections for BJP or not?
Furthermore, the rally served as a platform to address concerns surrounding social cohesion and religious harmony. Participants expressed apprehensions over the BJP’s perceived Hindu nationalist agenda, which some argue has led to increased polarization and discrimination against minority communities. Calls for secular governance and respect for diversity reverberated through the crowd, emphasizing the need for a more inclusive approach to nation-building.
The India Bloc Rally also underscored the importance of democratic principles and civil liberties in the face of perceived authoritarian tendencies within the BJP government. Many speakers emphasized the importance of upholding constitutional values, free speech, and the right to dissent, which they argued were under threat in the current political climate. Criticisms of government crackdowns on dissenting voices, including journalists and activists, were met with fervent applause and solidarity from the gathered crowd.
In addition to highlighting grievances against the BJP government, the India Bloc Rally also showcased the diversity and resilience of India’s civil society. Participants from various regions, religions, and socio-economic backgrounds came together to express solidarity and forge a collective vision for a better future. The rally served as a testament to the power of grassroots mobilization and the enduring spirit of democratic activism in India.
