The October of 2024 was warmer than usual. The temperature saw an increase during October. India experienced the hottest recorded month of October this year since the year 1901.
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) released the data regarding the temperature for the month of October. The data released by the department on the temperature in October, according to the data the “monthly mean temperature for the month of October over the entire country is the highest during the year 2024 in the last 124 years (1901-2024).” said IMD.
Warmest Recorded October
The monthly mean temperature recorded for the month of October is 26.92 degrees Celsius and the mean normal temperature for the month is to be 25.69 degree Celsius.
It shows it was 1.23 degrees Celsius higher than the normal expected temperature. The mean temperature registered in October is the highest recorded since 1901.
The data showed parts of India recorded higher mean temperature than the expected normal with central India recording the highest mean temperature of 28.18 degrees Celsius during the month of October, the IMD said.
The month of October also witnessed cyclonic storm Dana over Bay of Bengal. The South west monsoon withdrew from the entire country on 15th of October the official statement said.
With the warmest recorded October the month of November is likely to be warm.
The IMD in the Long range forecast for Rainfall and Temperature during November 2024, the probability forecast of maximum temperature said, above normal maximum temperature is expected over northeast and east central India.
The forecast also mentioned that some parts of northwest India and peninsular India are also likely to have maximum temperature above normal for the month of November.
The temperature forecast notified that normal to below normal maximum temperature is expected in west central India. Also, normal to below normal maximum temperature is expected to be in the adjoining areas of northwest India and north peninsular India the forecast stated.
Rainfall warning was issued for the southern states. A rainfall warning has been issued for heavy rainfall can occur in Kerala and Mahe heavy rainfall is also likely to fall in Tamil Nadu and in Puducherry and Karaikal on November 2 and on November 3. A yellow alert has been issued for these areas.
A gradual fall in minimum and maximum temperature by 2-3 degrees Celsius can be expected over north and east India during November 3 to November 7 as per the notification released by IMD.
